My family and I are very lucky that the devastating earthquake that hit Nepal did not damage our house or our neighborhood in Kathmandu. We have a good water supply and wifi is working when we have electricity. Electricity is now back on but is on a rotating basis which is normal for Kathmandu. We are currently accepting guests into our home as many guesthouses and hotels are closing. Should you have any questions about the current situation please ask us. Currently there is a fuel shortage in the country and we hope the situation will be resolved soon. Food and transportation are still widely available and although some foreign embassies have advisories our country is still very safe for visiting. We will do our best to help you.
My wife and I and our 2 children would be happy to have you stay with us. We are an easy going young couple originally from Rukum in western Nepal.
We have 2 bedrooms available for rent with shared western style toilet and gas hot water shower. We live on the main floor of a typical House in Kathmandu near to Thamel. The rooms are bright and spacious and we have a very large kitchen with a new refrigerator which is available to our guests. From our rooftop you can easily see the distant mountains and the monkey temple nearby. We can also provide meals on request.

Guests will have access to the entire home as well as the rooftop.

I have been interacting with foreigners since I was a child when I first came to Kathmandu as a kitchen helper in a guesthouse. Although my wife speaks very little english we are always happy to spend time with our guests and help them with their needs.

Our neighborhood is small and quaint with local character. Although we are near to Thamel our location is quiet and there are no main roads near our house.

We have easy access to Taxis and local buses. Buses arriving from Pokhara are a 5 min. walk from our home. Buses to Pokhara and other destinations in Nepal are about a 30 min. walk or 10 min. by taxi

We had an amazing stay in Hem's guest house. We stayed in Hem's gueshouse because Hem's children is sick so Hem moved us to his family guest house. They had a clean room and clean bathroom. His guesthouse is near to the center of Thamel. Hem is a grat house, he picked us at the airport and showed us Boudhanath and Thamel. He also helped us to book our bus ticket to Pokhara. Thank you Hem!! We had a great stay! :D

We had a bad communication as the host was not home. He recommended us to stay in his brother's guesthouse. We book a room with two beds but they offered us one double bed at the beginning. After we acclaimed them times and we got two beds. The first night we stayed at the host's house (his wife offered us two rooms as there were no two separate beds in one room), there were no water at all. So we moved back to the guesthouse, as we insisted that we got one room with two separate beds without extra charges. I think they put wrong info on Airbnb as their rooms are of one double bed, not two beds. But the family was lovely, especially his wife and daughter. It will be no problem if the host was home as his wife does not speak English.

My communication with hem was easy and helpful. I actually arrived at 2am as my flight was delayed so I ended up staying at peace home where gen works-so slightly different to this listing- but I appreciated the help with the late night check in and bring Anne to stay at the peace home both night rather than having to check out and back in. Peace home was an awesome place to stay with friendly, helpful staff and clean rooms

First of all I'd like to say that Hemraj is a very kind man and we would have really liked to get to know him and his adorable children and wife but we stayed one night and had to leave immediately the next morning because we feel the room lacked a lot of necessities. I suggest getting the carpets cleaned, having a working fan (since I asked beforehand if there was one), informing your guests that the water will not be working the entire time of there stay, having toilet paper, towels prepared as stated in your listing, and thoroughly cleaning the bathroom and carpets/bedroom as it all had a really bad odor. The location is nice, as it's in a quiet area walking distance from the main area of Thamel but we had to leave our 2 night stay after the first night because we couldn't bear the smells any longer and would have really liked a shower and to brush our teeth after a long day of traveling but like I said, the water wasnt working during our whole stay . We really wanted to enjoy your place Hemraj and hope you can better accommodate for your future guests!

Hello my name is Hemraj Malla and I love Nepal. I have traveled across my country from West to East and I have mountain biked and trekked to many destinations in my country. When I am at home I enjoy spending time with my wife and 2 children. I love to cook Nepali style food and am always eager to learn international style of cooking. I have met and traveled with people from all over the world. I'm currently working as the manager of Family Peace House in Kathmandu. I have also worked as a trekking and tour guide in Nepal. My favorite foreign destination is Thailand and Cambodia.
