Remodelled duplex in exceptional location of St. Paul's Square with a bedroom and living-room balcony overlooking the Mdina cathedral. All possible amenities within. Comfortable space to base yourself in whilst exploring the glorious 'Silent City'.

The space
This property is a large duplex one bedroom townhouse within the main square of Mdina or L-Imdina, Malta's old capital city. Mdina is a fortified Medieval City of around 300 inhabitants. It is one of Europe's finest examples of an ancient walled city and is extraordinary in its mix of medieval and baroque architecture. This property is found in one of the most prominent and outstanding locations in the ancient walled city of Mdina.

Living in Mdina is comparable to residing in an open air museum. It is a perfect location for those who enjoy culture and for those who would truly like to experience residing in this magnificent city steeped in history where everything is within walking distance.

Its location cannot be emphasised enough - not only is it situated WITHIN the walled city of Mdina (not in other towns such as Rabat, Bahrija, Mtarfa or Mosta nor in the outer-limits of Mdina), but it is situated in St. Paul's Square, the main centre of his city.

The property has been recently renovated with modern furnishings. The final result is a comfortable property that can host 3 people both in the summer and winter months. Its location and nature make it perfect for small groups of 2 and 3.

For potential guest's convenience, here is a general description of the layout of the house.

It is spread over 2 floors connected by a spiral staircase.

The ground floor consists of an entrance room that acts as the dining room. A circular table dominates this room, providing adequate seating capacity for our guests. The large front door provides a readily accessible source of natural sunlight where one can enjoy one's meals.

One then proceeds into a recently re-modelled kitchen that has been supplemented with all amenities. These include a cooker, oven, fridge, freezer, microwave, kettle etc. There is also a washing machine and an ironing board set for our guests convenience.

The washing amenities consist of a quaint shower room with a separate loo.

The top floor consists of a large bedroom and living room with a separate writing area. The main feature of this comfortable area is a spacious balcony, accessible from both the bedroom and living room, that overlooks palatial views of the Mdina Square and the Cathedral of Malta.

The large bedroom that overlooks the Cathedral of Malta comfortably sleeps 2 people, in 2 single beds or 1 large double bed (as the single beds can be adjoined together). The property can host another person in a folding bed should you be a group of 3 individuals.

The living room consists of recently upholstered sofas that provide a perfect place for one to relax, read a book and simply watch the time go by, from one of Mdina's best locations. In this room we provide numerous books, maps and touristic information that all guests to Mdina will find useful. The option to sit on the balcony in Malta's glorious weather and enjoy such activities in the fresh air is a unique perk of this property.

On the top floor, one also finds a small study area, where a cosy desk is situated under a window.

We will do our utmost to ensure that you will enjoy your stay in Mdina.

Where you’ll be

L-Imdina, Malta

Mdina or L-Imdina is one of Europe's finest examples of an ancient walled city and extraordinary in its mix of medieval and baroque architecture. The history of Mdina traces back more than 4000 years old and is one of Malta's earlier inhabited places. Lamp lit by night and referred to as "The Silent City", Mdina is fascinating to visit for its timeless atmosphere as well as its cultural and religious treasures. It was home then, as now, to Malta's noble families. Impressive palaces line its narrow, shady streets. The town was the old capital of Malta, and with its narrow streets, few inhabitants and beautiful views over the Island it is truly a magical town.

Mdina is situated in the north west of the island of Malta. The property itself is situated in the historical treasure that is the Medieval city of Mdina. It is located in the most prominent area in Mdina: right in front of St. Paul’s Square, overlooking Malta’s majestic cathedral: the cathedral of St. Paul. We are comfortable stating it is the most prominent position in Mdina.

For a list of things to do in Mdina: http://www.malta.com/en/about-malta/city-village/mdina. Particular highlights include the Natural History Museum in Palazzo Vilhena, the Carmelite Church, Palazzo Falzon, St. Paul's Cathedral, the Cathedral Museum, the Mdina Experience, Mdina Dungeons, Mdina Bastions and the Banca Giuratale amongst other attractions.

A variety of cafes, wine bars, restaurants and museums are within walking distance from the property.

Mdina is also extremely close to the delightful town of Rabat which can also boast of its own attractions. St.Paul's Church, the Roman Villa, St. Paul's Catacombs and grotto are not to be missed! According to local tradition, this grotto is the place where St Paul resided after he was shipwrecked on the island of Malta.

Mdina is close to many sandy beaches. Gnejna bay, Golden Bay, Riviera can be reached by 10 minutes with a car. There are also quick bus routes to these beaches.

For those seeking the rural, quiet and calm Malta, Mdina and Rabat can be used as the starting point for some of the most interesting walks in the country-side on the island. One can visit nearby Dingli, Bahrija, Bingemma, Imtahleb, Kuncizzjoni, Lunzjata, Chadwick Lakes and Verdala Castle. These spots offer a glimpse of rural Malta, far-removed from the urban life.

The property can be used as base to visit most sites in Malta such as Valletta, the 3 Cities, Marsaxlokk, Sliema, St. Julian's, Hagar Qim and Mnajdra Temples amongst other attractions given the regular bus services that pass by Mdina.

Should you be travelled with children, we can guarantee that the trip will be enjoyable for them. Just outside Mdina is a playground and a large garden right underneath the city bastions. One can also enjoy a traditional horse carriage ride or a ride on the trackless ‘train’ that will take you around the roads of Rabat and Mtarfa (adjacent towns to Mdina). An audio visual display of the Mdina Experience or a visit to the Mdina dungeons can also offer a unique cultural experience.

Mdina and the surrounding areas also host several traditional Feasts and Festivals. These include:

The Feast of St. Joseph celebrated in March, Rabat.
Medieval Mdina celebrated in April, Mdina where The Silent City comes to life with a Medieval theme. Entrance fees for all museums and attractions in Mdina are reduced.
Easter Week: there is a Good Friday pageant celebrated in Rabat where Christ's passion and crucifixion are depicted by statues born aloft through the streets of Rabat.
The Feast of St. Peter and St. Paul celebrated on the 29th June in Mdina.
The Feast of St. Paul is also celebrated in July in Rabat.

Overall Mdina is a remarkable city that deserves to be visited at the very least. The opportunity to base yourself here during your stay is one that should be grasped.
