Our cozy modern mountain cabin with woodstove sleeps 4 comfortably! Relax on 2 sunny decks with mountain views. Serene surroundings. Wifi and bbq provided. Enjoy a gourmet kitchen and access to golfing, hiking and tennis. Village is 2 miles away and accessible through a local trail as well as via the roads.

The space
Cozy modern mountain cabin in the Los Padres National Forest just 45 minutes from Bakersfield and 75 minutes from the San Fernando Valley. Pine Mountain is one of Southern California's best-kept secrets--a small alpine village with a four-season climate. We have light snow in the Winter, spectacular wildflowers in Spring, and gorgeous Fall colors. It's a wonderful getaway—and yet so close!

Our two-story home is located on a quiet street at 5771 feet. Lovely pine ceilings throughout the cabin contribute to the warm ambience. The 1000 sq. ft. interior is furnished in a modern style with a leather sofa and some cool abstract art on the walls. The living room has a wood stove and 50" smart HDTV with direct satellite & Blu Ray DVD. A skylight in the living room brings in lots of light.
The master bedroom (queen bed) is separate from the downstairs and reached via a spiral staircase leading up to French doors. The master bathroom adjoins the bedroom and has a skylight over the double length tiled shower. A second bedroom downstairs has a day bed with trundle. There is air conditioning in the living room as well as in the upstairs bedroom and 2 fans are provided-- although generally temps are not above 85 degrees on a hot day and generally drop into the 60's in the evening.

Upper and lower decks offer lovely views of Mt. Pinos and the San Emigdio range. Relax on the sunny decks or in the Adirondack chair near the pond surrounded by pine trees. Plan to do some bbqing--it is so pleasant to do some grilling on the upper deck bbq and dine outdoors.

Our cabin is clean and well-kept. It can comfortably accommodate 4 people--but from October to early December the smaller guest bedroom will have a full size mattress but not in a bedframe-- I am awaiting replacement of a murphy bed arriving in early December. So you must not mind having a mattress on the floor. PLEASE no smoking or pets! The jacuzzi is not included as an amenity due to drought restrictions on water.

Mt. Pinos has the best view of the stars in So. California—star parties are common whenever there is a new moon. In addition, since we are in the Padres National Forest - wildlife (deer, raccoons, bobcat, fox, bunnies, squirrels, quail, stellar and scrub jays) abounds. Rare California Condor preserve located on Cerro Noroeste Road (main road through town) approximately 15 miles west.

We have an extraordinary number of sunny days—it is rare to have a gloomy day. Since SNOW may be present during cooler months be sure to carry chains. Our roads are well-maintained but the CHP is strict about safety when snow is possible. Sledding awaits at Mt. Pinos just 15-20 minutes away, GREAT for cross-country skiing and snow-play destination!

The local Village Commercial Center is 2 miles away and offers access to a market, gift shops, several restaurants, ice cream store, laundromat and a spa. There are lots of hiking trails nearby as well as a fishing pond!

Mount Abel and Mt. Pinos are nearby offering cross country skiing in the winter and hiking in the summer. Fishing is available at Fern's Lake which is just a mile away. Horseback riding is available in the summer. Or simply relax on the deck and enjoy the fresh mountain air-- you won't want to leave!

It is very peaceful to spend a few days here-- and also comfortable. We LOVE being here with time to read, hike, relax.....did I mention slowing down and enjoying life? BREATHE!

Guest access
Guest passes to club facilities are provided (e.g. tennis courts, golf course, pool, club lounge, cafe, game room). Wireless internet is accessible throughout the cabin but limited to email and browsing. NO streaming due to restricted data available (12 GB for month) in our rural location. Hot tub is NOT available due to water restrictions enforced by property owners association

Other things to note
No parties in the cabin-- only the guests approved on the reservation are allowed on the property due to insurance issues.
Arrival required before 8 PM.
All trash must be taken with you or disposed of at the Transfer Site (be sure to take guest pass) at 16143 Aleutian Dr, (All the way to the end of the road, past the horses, at the top of the hill). Trash outside attracts wildlife (e.g., bears, raccoons, cougars) which creates a significant problem

Location

Pine Mountain Club, California, United States

Pine Mountain Club is called the "nearby faraway place" because it is a little piece of heaven not so far from Los Angeles. We have the best "star parties" in So. California on a new moon. Great hiking and a host of other activities (e.g. fishing, gold, tennis, cycling) are available for those who love the outdoors.

I enjoy the outdoors-- bicycling, kayaking, & backpacking. I love leisurely delicious meals, strong coffee and good wine. I teach in a School of Nursing-- my area of expertise is gerontology (i.e. aging and older adults). I play cello-- not very well but love it! I also am passionate about jazz and poetry. I have traveled quite a bit--favorite trips included backpacking in French Alps, rafting down the Grand Canyon, camping in Alaska and bicycling in the Canadian Rockies.
