Where you’ll be

Laxey, Garff, Isle of Man

Sunnylaxey is a typical old but lovingly restored Manx miners cottage.
The gardens, drive, and parking in front of the terrace of three cottages all belong to sunnylaxey - it has been said miners placed bets that included their gardens and the Miner who lived at No2 must have had a winning streak!

Laxey is an old mining village with many interesting historical features including the famous Laxey Wheel. It is situated in a steep valley with a number of rivers, waterfalls, and lovely forest walks, with one of the Islands finest beach's and a picturesque harbour.
It is a very popular part of the Island with both tourists and locals, especially during the summer months.
Laxey has pubs, cafes, restaurants, a number of interesting shops.

Douglas and Ramsey the two biggest towns in the Island are both about 15mins away by car, 25 mins by bus, and considerably longer by electric tram (it's all about the journey!).

Raad Ny Foillan Coastal footpath is about 8miles to Douglas.
Ramsey is a substantial hike from Laxey on the coastal footpath via Maughold.
Raad Ny Foillan is a tough 100mile challenge that can be completed in a week by anyone with decent fitness, using public transport to return to the cottage.
For a tougher challenge it has recently been completed in less than 24 hours by two Manx Fell Runners!
