Midway between Westward Ho! and Appledore, Northam Burrows has a beautiful long beach, perfect for surfing, sand castles, dog walking and coastal entertainment all year. Rich in flora and fauna, near the SW coast path; Visit the Quay at Bideford, enjoy the best of maritime history, cream teas, fish and chips and play ‘ The Royal Devon Golf Course’.
Scones, ‘tee’ and sea only minutes away.

On entering the bungalow you will find yourself in a comfortable sitting room with sofa and leather arm chair; TV with Freeview and HDMI socket and DVD player with a selection of DVDs. The dining table extends to accommodate 4. Welsh dresser and bookcase with a selection of books, games and jigsaws.
Small bedroom with a single bed and pullout bed, bedside drawers, lamp, small dressing table and mirror.
The bathroom has a toilet, a sink with waterfall tap, a bath with over bath shower and a heated towel rail.
Kitchen with electric cooker, fridge with a small freezer compartment. Microwave, kettle, toaster and dishwasher.
The larger bedroom has a double bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers and bedside cabinet with lamp and mirror.

After a day out you can relax outside in the small back garden. In the shed there is some beach games, as well as table and chairs.
There is a washing line for drying wet suits and a clothes airer in the shed.

One small, well behaved dog is welcome .
Dogs should be kept out of the bedrooms .
Please do not leave your pet unsupervised
This is a ‘no smoking’ property.

The Area
The bungalow has a small South facing back garden and is near the beach at Northam near WestWard Ho!

This cosy home is an excellent base for exploring the North Devon beaches with distant sea views from the sitting room window.

Whether you want to surf, swim, walk, birdwatch, build sand castles, fly kites or explore the history or flora and fauna of the coastline, there is a beach nearby to do just that.

Northam Burrows is a site of ‘Special Scientific Interest’ and part of Bideford Bay. It is a surfers (and kite surfers), delight. In one direction, walk along miles of beautiful beach. People and dogs can enjoy the beach to the right, all year round. There are miles of sandy beach accessed from either end by going over the Pebble Ridge, a natural breakwater that is not found in any other part of the country.
Off to Kiplings Westward Ho! With its shops, cafes, and all the usual seaside attractions. All 3 beaches are part of Bideford Bay. This is a blue flag beach with life guard cover May to September. Parking charges on the beach apply May to September.
Continue to the end of the esplanade and you can access the South West Coast Path.
The beach to the right is Appledore, with its harbour, ferry to Instow, sailing club and little cobbled streets to explore. There is excellent fish and chips to be tried at a number of ‘ chippies’ in the North Devon Area. Squires at Braunton across the estuary is especially good.

You can also crab fish from the esplanade with buckets, line and bacon. All can be purchased at local grocery stores.

Just 8 minutes drive from Appledore, round the estuary is Instow or get there by ferry. Lunch in the sea food restaurants, or a pub and enjoy a Hockings ice cream from the van too. There is a large car park by the harbour in Appledore .

It is also just a short car journey to the ancient port and market town of Bideford, where you can book a trip on the MS Oldburg for an outing to the unspoilt Lundy Island which is marvellous for birdwatching.
In Bideford, explore the shops and Pannier Market or sit at one of the pavement cafes and watch the world go by with a Devon cream tea or tuck into delicious fish and chips with ice cream to follow.
Enjoy a Walk in the gardens at Victoria Park overlooking the estuary. Visit the Art gallery next door to the park for a more cultural experience.
Towns such as Barnstaple, Ilfracombe and Great Torrington are also easily accessed by car. With an enjoyable outlet shopping experience available at Infinity shopping Village near Bideford.

For families there are a number of attractions to entertain and enjoy. The big Sheep, ‘The Milkyway, Frisbee Golf, RHS Garden Rosemore, Dartington Glass, Crazy golf and for the serious golfer, ‘The Royal Devon Golf Course’, all are easily accessible from ‘Pebbles Cottage.

One small well behaved dog is welcome ( please use cover provided to protect sofa)
Please try not to let the dog in the bedrooms.
There is a spray cleaner/ deodoriser if accidents do happen
