Great location
100% of recent guests gave the location a 5-star rating.
Newly renovated stone cottage set in in beautiful countryside in its own grounds near the top of a private drive off the A940 about 9 miles south of Forres. There are wonderful walks in the area and plenty of activities including fishing, several golf courses and lovely beaches. The cottage has been completely redecorated and has comfortable Hypnos beds, a new kitchen and modern sofas and chairs. The cosy sitting room has tv and wifi and a log burning stove in addition to the central heating.

The space
Downstairs the cottage has a large kitchen dining area, a cozy sitting room with wood burning stove, twin bedroom, shower room, laundry area and front and back porches with storage for coats, boots, buggies etc. Upstairs there are two further twin bedrooms and a bathroom. The cottage is centrally heated and free logs are provided. The modern kitchen has an electric oven and hob, a fridge and a microwave. A depends freeze is also available in the old kennels if required.

We provide both telephone and tumble dryer but we do ask guests to use those in moderation to keep costs for all within reasonable bounds. Wifi and satellite TV is also available.

Guest access
The cottage is at the top of a private drive to the main house which is a family home. Whilst we allow guests to walk through the landscaped garden we do ask them to respect the privacy of the family when they are in residence. Pets are allowed by prior arrangement only (and there is an additional cleaning charge specified in the house rules) and, if you have dogs, these should be kept on leads in the grounds and you should clean up behind them. The family also have dogs which may be in the grounds.

There are a number of ponds in the garden and a river runs along the edge. These are unfenced and the ponds and river pools are deep in places so please take care and supervise children in particular. Please do not use the children's swings and or the trampoline which are for private use only. There are river paths but these have some steep banks and cliffs with no safety barriers so should be used at your own risk.

Location

Moray, Scotland, United Kingdom

The Moray firth usually enjoys some of the best weather in Scotland and has a wealth of amenities. There are a large number of golf courses in the area, some wonderful beaches and the Cairngorm mountain range is about an hour away. Salmon fishing on the Findhorn river may be available by separate arrangement and dolphins and seals can be viewed in the Moray Firth. There is also plenty of historical interest with Cawdor Castle (of Macbeth fame) within easy reach as well as Brodie Castle and Pluscarden Abbey. Also within easy reach is Fort George which was created by George II as the ultimate defence against further Jacobite unrest after the 1746 defeat at Culloden of Bonnie Prince Charlie. The result is the mightiest artillery fortification in Britain, if not Europe.

In short there is plenty to do for all ages in the Moray Firth area and the cottage provides an excellent base from which to explore this beautiful part of Scotland.
