Casa Ben Linder is an oasis of safety and beauty in the heart of the city 30 min from the airport (we can arrange secure airport pickups). Newly-renovated guestrooms have gorgeous furniture, WiFi, attached bath, air conditioning & queen beds. Complimentary Nicaraguan breakfast with organic coffee included. Unique Revolutionary murals surround spacious patio w/ outdoor seating. Our non-profit is renovating the historic Casa into a guesthouse & space for education, art & solidarity in Nicaragua.

The space
The Casa is very safe with a staff person on-site 24 hours a day to greet you and help you with any questions or needs. The room is tastefully decorated with unique wooden furniture and fixtures. Room is recently renovated with WiFi, en suite bath, air conditioning and ceiling fan. There is a big shady patio with lots of trees, a lovely porch with hammocks and rocking chairs and a large covered workshop space all surrounded by beautiful murals. Your stay at the Casa supports the project & restoration of its murals.

Guest access
You'll have access to your room, a large covered porch, large covered workshop space (great for yoga!) and a big patio with shady trees. You'll have access to your room, a large covered porch, large covered workshop space (great for yoga!) and a big patio with shady trees. You will have access to a kitchen with stove, microwave, dishes, pots and pans. If you need to do laundry, you're welcome to hand wash, or we can wash for you for $2/load. There is lots of outdoor seating. You're also welcome to sit on our stoop outside and watch the world of a Managua barrio go by!

Other things to note
The house has 24 hour security, and your room is safely locked and secure. Historic murals surround our large patio and we often have puppet shows, art classes and workshops in the back Ranchon space. During events there is food and drink for sale, and we open a small art gallery and coffee shop at the front of the property.

UPDATE MAY 2019
SECURITY SITUATION IN NICARAGUA

Some guests have contacted us to ask "How safe is it for foreign travelers in Nicaragua right now?" If you have followed the situation in Nicaragua you may be aware that the country experienced political unrest in 2018. It is now possible to safely travel throughout the country once again, both by private and public transportation.

Throughout the country it's safe to be out and about. Since the unrest, there has been an uptick in opportunistic crime, so tourists should exercise caution. We are happy to arrange safe, low cost taxis with a trusted driver for you both within Managua and around the country. Feel free to write us with questions and always check the current situation with your local host.

Nicaragua

The neighborhood of Monsenor Lescano is safe and clean. The Casa is one block from a nice public park, 1.5 blocks off of a main road and just 3 blocks from a large grocery store. There are several restaurants, many eateries and bars just a few blocks away. The restored downtown of Managua along the lakefront is only a few minutes away by cheap and frequent taxis.

Although I'm originally from N. Idaho, USA and my husband Paul is from Cork City, Ireland, we've been living in Nicaragua for 18 years. We have two daughters born and being raised in the small village of Cuajachillo #2 just outside of Managua. I work in sustainable community development in some of the poorest areas of the country and Paul runs a small woodworking shop in the village. Our girls attend the local public school. We enjoy being involved in our community and love to meet communities wherever we go.
