This charming studio guesthouse is located in the historic town of La Veta, Colorado. Enjoy the ambience of the New Mexico territorial cottage, festooned with grapevines and flower pots.
Judith and her husband Ernest are long time residents. Judith runs her fiber art studio from home. She often hosts students from all over the world and frequently offers the studio guest house for rent.
The interior features antique furniture, lots of artwork and a fully stocked kitchen.
Guests have private, full access to the cottage guesthouse, across the yard from the main house. It's very private with your own porch and kitchen.
Interaction with guests
We will often be at home and available if needed.
Other things to note
We have four little dogs--very sweet, very friendly. You're likely to see and interact with them in the yard.
I am a Canadian living in the southwest United States. I am an author, teacher, designer & fiber artist. I travel internationally to teach and lecture.
I have lived overseas in England, Germany, and Japan. I have made 27 annual trips to Australia (1 month to 6 weeks each) and 17 trips to Japan.
Because of my heavy teaching schedule and teaching obligations, I am with the general public a great deal, so private time is very important to me.
I am a very easy guest and I prefer time to myself. I like to travel to places where I can get be with local people and eat in local places. I would rather be in a small cottage than in a 4 star hotel. I would rather shop at the farmers market and to eat where the locals gather. Good food is important to me though so I want to be near small cafes, bakeries etc.
I am a serious photographer so my surroundings are very important to me. Local color is a must.
I love art museums, art galleries and small locally owned shops. I love the ocean and vast coastlines. I am always torn between living out in a secluded coastal spot and inner city vibe. I am very comfortable in both worlds.
