Warm, modern, spacious, and well appointed accommodation with friendly and informative hosts in a splendid community for vacationing. The art at Judith's place and in town is wonderful.

Lovely weekend stay in La Veta at Judith and Ernest's beautiful home. I have some serious garden envy now. Loved the dogs and cats. La Veta is a sweet little town close to excellent trails and mountain drives. Highly recommend it!

Judith and Ernest and their family of pets (0utdoor pets) welcomed us into their lovely studio and cottage. Their place is a few blocks off of Main St. so it was very quiet and relaxing. Their yard and gardens were filled with beautiful plants lovingly cared for. They were wonderful hosts. We wished we had stayed longer. The cottage is well equipped with a full kitchen. We appreciated the availability of some basic food items like olive oil, spices, etc. we even had fresh eggs waiting for us! The French press availability was perfect for us however, a Kerrigan is available also. The cottage is delightful, bright, and colorful. The cottage is full of wonderful books just waiting to be read. The wifi worked well. Judith is a well known fiber artist. I asked her for a mini tour of her studio and a look at her work. Beautiful! Stunning! I hope to return someday and take a class from her.

The town of La Veta is a special place. Wonderful little shops and restaurants. Some of the best camping and hiking is just a stones throw from the town. Judith's home is wonderful - all amenities are in place and it's stocked with beautiful antiques and art. Then there's the garden ! Amazing mountain retreat - !

I am a Canadian living in the southwest United States. I am an author, teacher, designer & fiber artist. I travel internationally to teach and lecture.
I have lived overseas in England, Germany, and Japan. I have made 27 annual trips to Australia (1 month to 6 weeks each) and 17 trips to Japan.
Because of my heavy teaching schedule and teaching obligations, I am with the general public a great deal, so private time is very important to me.

I am a very easy guest and I prefer time to myself. I like to travel to places where I can get be with local people and eat in local places. I would rather be in a small cottage than in a 4 star hotel. I would rather shop at the farmers market and to eat where the locals gather. Good food is important to me though so I want to be near small cafes, bakeries etc.
I am a serious photographer so my surroundings are very important to me. Local color is a must.
I love art museums, art galleries and small locally owned shops. I love the ocean and vast coastlines. I am always torn between living out in a secluded coastal spot and inner city vibe. I am very comfortable in both worlds.
