Enjoy the charm of our 1932 vintage knotty pine beach cottage with gorgeous views of Salmon Creek meeting the Pacific Ocean. This warm and cozy cottage is decorated in authentic beach decor; colorful, quirky and comfortable. Bask in the fresh air and views of sand, surf and sunsets from the back deck and majestic mountains from the front porch. Recline in the leather love seat with a book. Bring home seafood for dinner or go out. To do or not to do...that's the question at Swallow's Nest!

The space

Swallow's Nest is comfortable, quirky, serene and joyful. Most spectacular are the ocean views from the living room, bedroom and back deck. Though only 700 square feet, the layout is pleasant, with two bedrooms (a queen in the larger room and a full in the "tiny room,"), a full bathroom, living room, fully stocked kitchen and dining area. Located in a quiet neighborhood on a very short block, it is the perfect space for a couple with 2 children or 2 couples. Both the front and back decks are great for relaxing with a glass of something good and gazing upon either the ocean or the hills to the east. Sunsets are breathtaking! We allow a maximum of 2 dogs. The kitchen is small but has everything you need. Folks even do complete Thanksgiving dinners here!

Guest access

The entire cottage and enclosed yard with barbecue area are available to you.

Other things to note

Our minimum stay is 2 nights...3 nights on holiday weekends (New Years, MLK, Presidents Day, Easter, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas)

We have WiFi, cable and a flatscreen TV. We have a voiceover IP on which you can make calls anywhere in the U.S. or Canada for free. There is no cell phone reception in Salmon Creek, but you can use WiFi on your smartphone to set up WiFi for calling and receive calls ("WiFi Calling").

Please leave the cottage tidy with dishes washed. Bring garbage and recycling to the bins inside the bamboo porch of the adjacent garage. While there, look up and see if you can find the Swallow's Nest!

If you are bringing your dogs (maximum of 2), they are not allowed on Salmon Creek beach. There is a list in the binder of nearby beaches that do allow dogs. Also, there is a delightful new walking path right at the end of the street that is perfect for doggies or they are free to run in the dunes and chase all those invisible things dogs love to run after.

Included in your fee is a 12% Sonoma County Transfer Occupancy Tax (TOT).

Had a great little escape to a place we’ve never been! Two mommy friends got some peace and quiet by the ocean! The place was lovely and the ocean views from the back porch and living room were amazing. Thanks again.

Just as advertised! Tom and Pam's place is exactly as they described it: it is clean, neat, well equipped, and has parking right in front. The dwelling has a wonderful view, and is super-quiet, which makes for an amazing experience hearing the breaking ocean waves, especially in the evening as you also enjoy the gas fireplace. Communication is great, and I wish more hosts were as accurate as they are! I absolutely recommend them, and would stay here again without hesitation.

Nothing could have been better about this quaint little slice of paradise. We loved the cozy cottage, found cooking there easy, enjoyed coffee on the porch and loved walking to the beach. I hope to return - next year with friends again or sooner with family.

Lovely location, stylish cottage spacious and gracious - really special to be able to see the ocean from both the living room and one of the bedrooms. Interesting books, cosy heater kept off the chill, lots of blankets and towels provided, and the shower worked well too. We recommend arriving while it is still light, gravel roads and stones may trip up city drivers. Not a problem if directions from Pamela are followed, but we got a little lost in the dark, where there were no street lights.

This was a sweet place for our weekend getaway. The cottage is tucked into a coastal neighborhood on the ocean side of the road, where you can watch the breakers roll in from the deck and living room. The cottage is vintage and lovingly remodeled so that the best of its history is preserved (gorgeous old pine walls) and all of the comforts taken care of, with beautiful and whimsical art pieces added. The kitchen looked kind of small in the photos but it is amazingly well laid out and very workable--we really loved it, and it is as cute as a kitchen can be. Everything we needed to cook was there. We didn't get to use the grill out in the back garden but we did sit in the comfy outdoor chairs for our wine and cheese. The garden is fully fenced in, wonderful for our dog--and takes perfect advantage of the view. There is a cozy recliner love seat in the living room where we could tuck in after a romp on the foggy bluff. The bed was comfy (we only used the main bedroom, not the smaller one with the double bed), and lots of blankets, towels, pillows, etc., were provided. We'll come back here one day.

As your host: My husband Tom and I bought this little beach cottage in June 2017 because we fell in love with the area and ocean views from the property. Recently we discovered a barn swallow's nest in the garage with many babies. We thought it auspicious and so named our cottage Swallow's Nest. We are so happy to share our cottage with you and hope you enjoy it as much as we do. We plan to upgrade it bit by bit, opening it, making it brighter and more modern with time.

As a guest: I love to travel. Ethiopia, India and Costa Rica are among my favorite destinations. I love a terrific location, great coffee and a comfy bed. I love gardens, good books and a view. Thank you for sharing your homes with me!
