My 3 bedroom, 2 and 2 half bath, end-unit townhouse, with loads of natural light, is easy walking distance to the Vienna Metro stop and Nottoway Park. It is a short drive to restaurants in Vienna and Fairfax. I keep the house spotless: my friends say it is "like an upscale hotel." You'll love the natural light, the fireplace, and the things I've collected while serving in Latin America, the Middle East, and Afghanistan as a foreign service officer.

The space
The house is convenient to I-66 and the Vienna Metro, but it is tucked away in a small community with direct access to Nottoway Park, and the setting is quiet and bucolic. There is easy parking for two cars in the driveway.

You will enter the home on the ground floor, which has a large study with an Ethan Allen queen-sized sofa bed, television with XBox 360, DVD player, and TV with Sling TV), a home theater system, and fireplace. There is also a large desk with two printers and a scanner which you are welcome to use for small jobs during your stay. There is also a guest bathroom with a bronze leaf mirror from Peru.

The main level has a large living room/dining room, a kitchen, and an open space (yoga studio? dance studio?) with seating adjacent to the kitchen. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you will need. There is a drip coffee maker, and I leave coffee and tea for guest use. There is also a guest bath and a large wood deck with a Weber gas grill, table, and chairs on this level.

The bedroom level has a master bedroom with queen bed, two antique dressers from Sweden, and an ensuite bath with shower and soaking tub for two. The second bedroom has a queen bed, and the third bedroom has a single bed. The second and third bedrooms share a full bathroom.

I've filled the house with lots of antiques and a fine carpet from Afghanistan, but the space is comfortable, not fussy. I know you will enjoy your stay here, and I ask only that you treat the home the same way you would treat yours.

Please note that the home has stairs and the normal hazards that most homes have, like electrical cords, household cleaning chemicals, and so on, so it may not be suitable for children. I welcome families with children, but you will need to supervise them and keep them safe just as you would in your own home.

Guest access
The entire home, except for one locked closet, will be available to you during your stay. (I stay elsewhere when the house is rented, but I am available for questions or emergencies.)

Other things to note
Check-in time is 4 pm, but I can usually arrange an earlier check in if needed. Just ask.

I keep a couple motorcycles in one side of the garage, and it is possible that I may need to pick one up at some point during your visit. If I do, I'll always let you know before I come, and I'll let myself into the garage using the garage door opener. I won't enter the house, so your privacy throughout your visit will be assured.

I live in a small (39 home), upscale townhome development that is easy walking distance to the Vienna Metro subway stop (reached via a path directly across from my front door) and Nottoway Park (which adjoins the north end of my development). It is a short drive to great restaurants in Vienna and Fairfax. But, while accessible to transportation, restaurants, and entertainment, the neighborhood is tranquil and bucolic.

I served as a foreign service officer for many years, mostly in Latin America, but I also did tours in the Middle East and Afghanistan. I'm currently a third year PhD student in the economics department at George Mason University. Once I complete this program, I expect to resume my overseas service, but I'm really enjoying this break. I spend a lot of time reading and writing (natch), and I like spending time outside, doing any kind of sports, biking, and hiking. I have a Kawasaki Ninja 1000, and I love sport riding and touring in groups. I also have a Suzuki DR650, and I love riding on dirt roads even more.
