Location

Saltdean, United Kingdom

Saltdean is a prosperous village suburb perched on undulating chalk cliffs overlooking the ocean and is sandwiched between the sea, farmland and the South Downs National Park. It is situated on the eastern edge of the city of Brighton and Hove and is approximately 5 miles east. It's a quiet, sleepy coastal village centred around an iconic and famous 1930s art deco Lido with heated outdoor swimming pool and lounging area within an oval park with children's playground area and outdoor gym. There is also a reasonably-priced carvery restaurant and pub for a bite to eat or pint or two positioned behind it.

Saltdean has a mainly shingle beach fronted by a promenade, the Undercliff Walk, which can be reached directly from the cliff top by steps from the coast road or by a subway tunnel from the Lido. The beach is quiet with a cliff edge cafe and an undercliff cycle path that you can walk or cycle along taking you to Brighton Marina, and then onto Brighton pier with a couple of coffee stop-off points along the way at Rottingdean and Ovingdean. The sunsets are amazing. The next door village of Rottingdean bears historical significance and is a place full of character with it's smuggling heritage. It is charming and quaint with a lovely old church and duck pond, a couple of great pubs and some vintage type bric a brac shops. Brighton Marina is around 3.5 miles away and Brighton is 5 miles away. The Marina has an extensive range of great restaurants and bars, with its boats and harbour.

Saltdean has an array of amenities with a Co-Op supermarket, a post office, taxi rank, beauty salon, take-aways, restaurant and cafes, record shop, launderette, dog boutique, off licence and local pub.

The South Downs National Park is within walking distance of the house. It is on beautiful undulating countryside and farmland with amazing walks to Telscombe and Lewes. Great for early morning dog walking, jogging or simple solitude.
