Writing a great description is one of the best ways to attract guests. You don’t have to be a wordsmith—you just need to let people know what to expect at your place.

To get started, select up to two of the highlights provided, and we’ll suggest an opening line. For example, if you choose “Peaceful” and “Stylish,” we might propose “Kick back and relax in this calm, stylish space.”

That opening line is only one idea, and it’s meant to inspire you. We recommend that you replace our line with your own words, and add other important details about your space. We know you can do it!

Try these tips to create your own compelling description of your place:

1. Showcase special features. Every space is different, so share what sets yours apart. For example:

  • Is the kitchen well-stocked? “Whip up a quick snack or fantastic feast in the fully equipped chef’s kitchen.”
  • Got fantastic views? “Watch the sun set over the lake while relaxing in our bay window seat.”
  • Offer easy access? “Our step-free entrance is accessible with a wide, paved path from the driveway.”

2. Be specific. Include practical details that can help guests plan ahead. Be upfront about any of your space’s quirks to set expectations. For example:

  • Is one of your beds a couch? “The pull-out sofa has a springy, queen-size mattress.”
  • Located in a noisy city? “We’re centrally located, so expect some city traffic noise.”
  • Got spotty cell service? “We’re off-grid, so print our directions before you leave.”

3. Tell the story of your space. While providing details, help guests imagine being the heroes of their own adventure. For example:

  • Restored an antique bath? “Ease into the clawfoot tub and let your troubles melt away.”
  • Installed a birdfeeder? “Start your day with the hummingbirds!”

4. Keep it brief. Write succinctly, focusing on important details that you haven’t already noted. For example:

  • Proud of your games selection? “Test your chess skills, play a board game, or try our coloring books—fun for all ages!”
  • Got a luxurious bed? “Sink into the memory foam mattress with Egyptian cotton sheets.”

Remember that you can update your description later. Many Hosts refine theirs over time.
