Our cottage is located at the banks of the Yuhara River, at the banks of the Uenbara River. Speaking of Gifu, Shirakawa-go and Hida Takayama are famous, but Enhara is also an inconvenient place in the mountains, but it is nice. The landscape of the mountains and rivers is beautiful, and it is a natural place where monkeys and deer appear. The Enhara River is a landmark of Japan's most beautiful underwater water and light, and the inn is located about 800 meters from the spring water point of underwater, so the transparency of the water is excellent. You can also see the light from the inn. On a summer morning, you can see a magical view of sunlight from among the trees due to weather conditions. The water in the Enhara River is cold, but in the summer, the children are playing in the river energetically. Temperatures drop a lot in the river, so even those who escape the heat and cool off. A little further downstream, there are a few spots to play in the river, and the water is clear and beautiful everywhere, making it pleasant to swim. The water in the river shines a little deep in emerald green, and the rock and moss landscape is fantastic, making it a healing spot where the mind is purified. We renovated a two-story storehouse built in the Edo period and made it into a guest house. Although it is not spacious, a kitchen with an IH cooking heater is installed on the first floor, while maintaining the atmosphere of a storehouse with its earthen walls and thick beams. The first and second floors are equipped with air conditioning for a comfortable stay. You can experience the sound insulation, summer coolness, and winter warmth unique to a storehouse. If you like, you can enjoy coffee made with freshly ground beans. Sister-gawa Onsen and Ibuki Yakuza-Yu are about 15 minutes away by car. We can provide you with a ticket for Sankawa Onsen (cheaper than the regular price). Please contact us about pick-up and drop-off. There are many tourist spots unique to Nagahama, which has often been the stage of history. Hikone Castle, a National Treasure, Toyotomi Hideyoshi's Nagahama Castle, the birthplace of Ishida Mitsunari, one of Japan's leading mountain castles, Otaki, the site of the battle, and others. It is also less than 20 minutes by car to the Sekigahara Battlefield. In addition to the area around Lake Biwa, there are plenty of non-historical attractions such as Japan's oldest railway station building, Nagahama Railway Square, the Yanmar Museum where children can play, and Kurobane Square. You can also enjoy gourmet food such as Omi beef, duck cuisine, grilled mackerel somen, noodles, salad bread, duck, and small ayu.

Nagano Kisoji | A luxurious house carefully renovated with the tastes and culture of 1931

I would like you to stay like a local in a historic town in the mountains, so basically I hope you can book from 2 nights. If you'd like to stay overnight, we'd love to send you a request with that message. Located in the town next to Narai-juku, Nakasendo's post town, a historic town that has flourished as a region for lacquerware from the Edo period. It was selected as an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings, and was built in 1931 in this town, where lacquerware shops are still lined up. Limited to one group per day without meals, you can use the entire house. I think the charm of Hirasawa is the unforgettable beauty and abundance. It would be nice if you could stay like living in this old town, such as reading, walking, local sake (sake, wine), and sleeping slowly. The daily situation is also sending out on SNS, so please take a look. There are no screen doors in an old house in the valley of the mountains, so natural creatures may come in during the warmer months. The 93-year-old building is not polished in detail. We are preparing to pick you up as clean as possible, but we would be grateful if you could come with a big heart.

Our guesthouse is in a beautiful mountain village, near to it are pristine forests with beech trees and an ancient mountain path that was used to carry sea products from Japan sea to Kyoto in old days. In front of the guesthouse runs a stream that is a source of Lake Biwa and its water is crystal clear ; in early summer nights many fireflies fly over the stream. In winter, we have a lot of snow ; sometimes it reaches 2 meters from the ground! On clear nights you can enjoy the sky full of stars.

Cozy, Clean, Convenient & quiet home in Gifu

I came to Gifu in 2018, I think it was it’s unpretentiousness that attracted me . The people here seem relaxed and easy going, hospitable and very much in love with their hometown which in the Gifu park area retains much of the (Kyoto like) feeling of traditional Japan with it’s castle and a host of well maintained shrines. I don't think many people have heard of Gifu, even Japanese people, inspite of the Great heritage sights like Shirakawago, beautiful mountains and clear water rivers!
