Palmento San Nicolò

Nestled on a quiet country road in the heart of a vineyard planted on Monte San Nicolo, the accommodation includes 2 buildings, a Palmento from 1902 which houses the wine press and its outbuilding which was once used as a tool shed. The two spaces are united by a corten structure with a slatted roof, which provides a shady open plan kitchen and dining area next to a terrace and 4m x 7m salt water swimming pool, built in lava stone, recreating the the colours of the Etna coastline

Between Fornazzo and Sant´Alfio, in the Etna park area, surrounded by vineyards and hazelnut groves, Casa Cavagrande was born. The Cavagrande loft is one of three lodgings within the recently renovated lava stone structure. The loft was created from an ancient millstone and has just been redesigned. Palmento is the place were the grapes used to be crusced to make wine. We thought about the palm of the hands and the concept is to enhance the senses and the creativity. In the open space there is a toilet with solar calendar, a japanise alcova with tatami and futon, a large bath tube, a heater and an antique stereo class A. Guest can admire the sun and moon rising over the sea and the sunset behind the volcano. Palmento is of exclusive use of the guests.
