“We had a very good stay. APARTMENT Nice decoration, very clean and well equipped with wash machine and all necessary for kitchen. Perfect for 4 people. 2-minute-walk from the beach THE PLACE All the place is totally new and according to us has been well planed to be quite, clean and comfortable, respecting the beautiful place as it is. We were told that the residence open for summer 2019. There are still some residences under construction but most of them are now finished and occupied. No building are higher than 2 storeys and they let many pine trees all around. This place will probably attract more and more people in the coming years. There is 1 supermarket and 2 restaurants. This is less than 1 hour drive from Tirana.”

“This stay happened to be during the tragic earthquake of November 26th. First instinct is not share such experience, specially for a beach location, but on the other hand I thought it can be helpful for people to know because safety is always first priority no matter where - after all such experiences might need to be considered top priority around the world in the global-warming era we now live in. I happened to be in ValaMar resort for a week in November ’19 due to business I had there. This site was not small as I first thought, to give a rough idea, one lap of my morning run around it was about 1.3 miles. The apartment was great, my only suggestion for homeowners is to consider dishwasher and microwave - even though I had no need because even in November there was a great restaurant inside the resort with amazing cooking and unbelievable prices; even more interesting it was this very cool fish-cabin-like restaurant about 200 yards outside resort serving daily caught Adriatic sea fish and homemade white whine with even cheaper prices; one could get muddy walking outside resort, because road to walk there is not as nicely paved as inside, but exactly that made this place even more attractive; to not mention if you have a car, you could drive around into again not as nicely paved roads outside ValaMar and explore other similar type restaurants. I enjoyed my stay there to the extent that I am considering this place for winter vacation - very few people around, very friendly people who work there, deserted beach, and temperatures around 60s - I love this kind of tranquility. And then… … I wake up at 3am by a earthquake, shock was strong, but not as strong to make me step outside; instinctively I went underneath bathroom door to hold off thick wall that seemed structural wall, it only lasted 3-4 seconds that is why I thought it could have been aftershock of relatively strong 5.6-magnitude quake that happened there back on late September; and I went back to sleep. 4am, to be more precise 3:55am, that kind of shaking is now engraved in my brain forever, again I quickly went under bathroom door but this time I really needed to hold on something to be able to stay on my feet - they say it was about 30-seconds long, that is very very long for an earthquake, in my mind it was eternity; in the middle of it, power went out, I could hear things falling, but the main sound was this background noice of building shaking; when finally shaking stopped, in the dark I quickly put on pants, jacket, and barefoot shoes and ran outside; luckily I had keys in my pocket so I could go into my rental car outside; dark and no-one around, I drove about 100 yards to the guarding post and went to talk to the guards, three of them, human instinct to talk and help, they were even more scared about their own houses in the villages around and their families. Later I learned the tragic extent of this 6.4-magnitude earthquake. There are no words to describe such horrified event and its devastating impact of lives it took and damages it caused; the point I want to make is that there were 0 (zero) cracks in the walls of this apartment and in all other buildings of this resort that I was able to see - I was very interested to find out if there was any damages in the walls of these buildings - none! the only thing I was able to see were some concrete cracks on the sidewalks and some cracks on the asphalt, but nothing in the buildings. Need to mention that earthquake epicenter was very close to Hamallaj where ValaMar is located. In Durres that is the main city nearby few buildings collapsed and many other buildings became inhabitable, but nothing in ValaMar. During next couple of days I saw people coming here from Tirana, that is about 20-miles away, because they felt safer in ValaMar even though it was closer to the epicenter than Tirana. I apologize for the extent of detail I could not keep from mentioning, the point of my review is that in addition to it being very nice and in an amazing beach location, this place is very safe such that was able handle an about mid 6M earthquake with zero impact.”

“They were at Ferida from October 1 to 10. The apartments are wonderful, everything is thought out, stylish and tasteful. The cleanliness is perfect, the appliances are top notch. In the village itself, people appear mainly on the weekend, so there is peace and quiet. The only negative, I would even say weirdness, the Albanians who come for the weekend, just hang bags of garbage on the fence, or even stranger put them under the trees located right in the village and go home, in the evening dogs or cats come in, they crack open the bags and all the garbage is carried around the village. At the same time, large garbage cans immediately stand on the road, into which we threw our garbage without any problems twice a day. I think this is one of the reasons for the amount of garbage scattered throughout Albania, including on such beautiful beaches. So the mentality of the Albanian in this regard must be changed. By nature, Albanians are very friendly and helpful people, they try to help in everything. 5 minutes to the beach, beaches are large, there are a lot of umbrellas and sunbeds. The sea is very affectionate and gentle. In general, I recommend everyone to go to Ferida. You will not regret)”
