Boise, ID

As an Airbnb host, it's important for you to understand the short-term rental rules in your city. As a platform and marketplace, we do not provide legal advice, but we want to share some useful links that may help you better understand laws and regulations related to short-term rentals in Boise. This list is not exhaustive, but it should give you a good start in understanding your local laws. We’ll continue to update this information as more becomes available. If you have questions, contact the Boise City Clerk, or consult a local lawyer or tax professional.

Registration

As of May 1, 2022, Boise ID’s ordinance requires all short-term rental (STR) operators to obtain a license from the City. Licenses are valid for one year from the issuance date and must be renewed annually. You can find the online application as well as a full list of application requirements on the City of Boise’s STR webpage

To register online, first-time users will be required to set up an account on the City’s website. Once you create an account, you can navigate to Apply > License from the menu to submit the required documentation needed to obtain a license.

Our commitment to your community

We are committed to working with local officials to help them understand how Airbnb benefits your community. Where needed, we will continue to advocate for changes that will allow regular people to rent out their own homes.
