What you'll do

I'll meet you at Karasuma on Shijo St. and we'll take the subway to Marutamachi station. Walking and/or on the subway, I'm going to teach you the legend of Abe-no-Seimei, a powerful Good Wizard from more than a thousand years ago. It's amazing to me how unknown he remains outside Japan. Seimei's main symbol is the five-pointed star, often depicted with the points connected by lines, becoming the same as the West's Pentagram! There have been seven major films depicting Seimei's life, and countless TV shows and documentaries about him. Learn how Seimei protected Japan with his tremendous powers from the evil of the nearby Makai, or Underworld, and what kind of assistants he recruited to help him create and maintain his defense. The magical wards and lines he created exist to this day, and I'll show them to you. The evil beings were never able to breach them and escape, although Seimei had to keep up an active defense, as they often tried. By keeping all this evil contained near Kyoto, Seimei may in fact have saved the entire world from destruction! Once at the shrine, I'll show you each remaining relic, and what they meant in Seimei's life story. You can purchase lucky charms and amulets with magical symbols and mystic writing, if you like. As a special treat, I'm going to finish by walking you to where Seimei's rather unusual assistants used to "live."

I love Japanese monsters and ghosts, and I've learned quite a lot about both in the 13 years I've lived here. It's so fun being able to share my knowledge with you. Please join all my Creepy Japan Experiences! See all my experiences here: http://www.zapmymind.com/p/visiting-kobe-try-exciting-experience.html I'm Professor Jay Tee, Asia's "Lightning-fast Hypnotist." How about a Shocking, Mind-Zapping Experience while you're here in Japan? I've spent over 20 years in "Zapping" other people's minds with hypnosis on stage and in therapy. My Experiences sometimes include hypnotic preparation, and yes, anybody can do it. And it's FUN to experience, too! I have lived here in beautiful Kobe, Japan since 2007. I still teach part-time at university, and also do hypnosis shows and seminars here in Asia and on cruise ships.

Where you'll be

We meet OUTSIDE the Hankyu line Karasuma station/Subway Karasuma line Shijo station exit. (Please see the pic!) We take the subway to Marutamachi station. Then we walk to Seimei Shrine. On the way, I'll take you along Seimei's magical defensive lines and explain how they worked. We enjoy the Shrine for awhile as I teach you about Seimei. Then, I take you to the secret place where Seimai's assistants once "lived."

More tips

This is NOT one of my hypnotic Experiences, this is a walking tour. It's a fairly long walk, so bringing small kids is not a great idea unless they are in a carrier/stroller. We walk along roads, most do not have a sidewalk. The road surface can be rough--but Hey, Kyoto is over 1,200 years old!
