What you'll do
A very nice architecture view about the portuguese colonial city. You will learn the history of the formation of the original nucleus of the city of Salvador from the vision of an architect and urban planner. You will get in touch with details of the Portuguese colonial urban design and baroque architecture present in the mansions, churches and public buildings. Our starting point will be the Tomé de Souza Square where is the Lacerda Elevator and some of the main public buildings of the Upper City. There you will know a little of the history of the city's foundation and its geographic and urban disposition in Cidade Alta (High City) and Cidade Baixa (Low City). From there we will depart towards the Pelourinho where more information about the Portuguese colonial urbanism and the baroque architecture will be presented. From Terreiro de Jesus Square, we will leave to explore the Church of São Francisco, one of the main baroque monuments of Brazil, where we will enter for a quick visit. Then we will continue along other streets of Pelourinho always with information about the architectural characteristics of the Baroque city to the Largo do Pelô, where new information regarding the architecture and society of the time will be presented. At this point we will finish our walking. *This is not a tour, as I am not a tour guide. Here, we will see the historic city from the perspective of its architecture and urban colonial design, through the eyes of an architect and local resident.
I am an architect and urban planner trained for 12 years and a passionate about the history and culture of my city. In love with the Historic District Old Downtown of Salvador, where I defend the idea that knowledge and heritage education lead to its preservation. Currently, I develop research in the academic masters with a focus on this region. As an architect and urban planner, I offer a specific vision focused on baroque architecture and colonial urban design present in the Historic Center of Salvador, where I believe there is a good part of the soul and culture of this unique city in the world. Please, note that my english is not a 100% good but I can make a good conversation and people can understand me easily.
