What you'll do

Join me in a memorable Italian cooking class, I'll teach you how to use your hands to mix the flour and the eggs as my mom taught me when I was 7. I'll welcome you at the door wearing a mask. After washing hands, we'll have a coffee and small talks. You'll learn all the secrets to make the traditional fresh-eggs pasta ( ask for no egg pasta). I achieve a balance between demonstration and hands-on at the working station. When the dough is done, we'll have a break with local wine and some typical regional products. Once back to our working station we'll prepare two different pasta shapes. Then you'll see me in the kitchen cooking and preparing the dishes. You can sit at the table at 1 meter distance one another. In a few minutes you'll taste what you have previously prepared from scratch, topped with different sauces. Meat menu - Vegetarian menu are both available. Scheduling options and special menu are available, ask for them.

I'm a teacher and a certified cook 2° level of risk. My family has been from Bologna for three generations, since the beginning of 1900'. As a child born in Bologna, the so called city of Food, I could hardly wait till the holidays to make tortellini, adoring the festivities that got the family reunite. I learned from my mom to treat food ritualistically using seasonal ingredients. Food has always had an important place in my life and teaching how to make fresh pasta has come easily.

My mother and I had the most wonderful morning cooking with Grazia. She was kind, patient and explained really well the techniques we needed to learn. She is so passionate about beautiful, simple cooking and I can’t imagine a better person to learn from. We had made some pasta before so weren’t total beginners, and we were looking for something special and unique to learn and make for years to come. This is not the kind of experience you can have in a commercial cooking class. It is one of a kind!

In Grazia's pasta-making class, you'll learn all the techniques needed to make pasta (tortellini and tagliatelle) like a pro and sample delicious local wine and snacks. You'll also learn about the care and delicacy that goes into Bolognese cooking and gain insight about local and regional traditions and culture. More precious than what you'll learn, though, is the time you'll get to spend with Grazia herself. She is one of the most warm, generous and interesting people we have met in a very long time - the Italian aunty we all wish we had. Meeting her and hearing stories about her life was the true highlight of this experience and what we will remember most about it. I can't recommend Grazia's pasta-making class highly enough!

Highly recommend this pasta making class! We made tortellini and tagliatelle pasta as part of class, while our teacher made the sauces to go with it. She served us coffee, lambrusco, parmesan cheese, and bruschetta as a snack as we were prepping. We also ate our finished product (so good!). She even made us dessert and shared a friend's homemade limoncello. It was such a unique experience, cooking with a real Italian in her home...it was like cooking with a friendly neighbor. It was a wonderful 4 hours spent, and Grazia's passion and talent shine! She was very patient and made us feel welcome and relaxed. It's very easy to learn with her as a teacher! Can't wait to try it again at home.

Wow. What can I say about this experience to do it justice? Grazia is one of the kindest, most welcoming people I've met in Italy and she made our stay in Bologna (which we were already enjoying) even better. Grazia knows her stuff, and that's no secret. She and her husband prepared appetizers and ragú and delicious dessert, which we were definitely not expecting! Learning how to prepare the pasta made the final product even more meaningful for us and we will truly remember our time with Grazia for years.
