What you'll do

Garden of the Gods is one of the top city parks in the nation with 5 million visitors last year! Avoid the swarm of visitors, see more wildlife, and avoid heat of the day on this beautiful early morning hike through the Garden. We will begin the hike by admiring the stunning red rocks and learning about the local history, wildlife, and vegetation in the central gardens. We will then hike to less traversed trails that offer spectacular views of Pikes Peak and the front range of the Rockies. We will end with a birds eye view of the park before winding our way back down to our starting point. The total distance of the hike will be 4 miles on moderate terrain trails with a 250 foot increase in elevation. Throughout the tour we will witness beautiful rock formations and will be on the look out for Rocky Mountain wildlife. Be prepared to take many photos!

Where you'll be

Our hike will begin by admiring the beautiful red rock formations (including kissing camels), identifying unique vegetation and wildlife, and learning about the park's rich history. We will then travel off the beaten path to my favorite rock formation, Siamese Twins, that has a beautiful backdrop of Pikes Peak. Next, we will climb to experience a birds eye view of the park before finally winding our way back to the main parking lot.

Garden of the Gods is stunning, and an early morning hike is the way to see it, before the heat and crowds come in. We enjoyed learning about birds and plants and being pointed toward the best views. Austin was courteous and friendly and helpful with photography. I had hoped for more information about the park to place it in the context of human and natural history (e.g., geology, Native Americans). Especially given the high price of this tour, we were disappointed that the guide didn’t provide this and that he could not answer some basic questions such as the size of the park.

Austin's love of nature and deep knowledge of ecosystems was just a joy. Garden of the god's is a magical space best experienced on foot in the early hours. This small group tour will bring you places you might miss on your own with thoughtful insights and encouragement on the hiking paths. Austin was careful to pace this experience for those dealing with altitude challenges in an affirming and helpful manner. I got some amazing pictures and even more memories. No picture will every do the wonder of this place justice.

Elise was our guide and did an awesome job. Very friendly and knowledgeable about area, vegetation and wildlife. Loved hearing the history behind things we saw. Happy that we went with a guide because I’m sure would have missed half of what we saw. Definitely recommend.

This experience with Elise was AMAZING!! She is truly a gifted teacher and guide! Our entire family (including kids 12, 14) was engaged and became active participants throughout the duration of the hike. She shared so many fun facts about the vegetation, rock composition, wildlife, and history of this fabulous city park. She clearly has a passion for teaching others. Elise also knew the best spots for family pictures with splendid views. The sunrise hike beat the crowds, the heat, and gave us the most beautiful view of the glowing rock walls as sun rose. Don't hesitate, book this awesome experience!!
