Our goal is to offer our guests an experience to learn and participate in a local Cuban clay and pottery workshop in small charming town just outside of Havana.
This is a great way of exploring the authentic local life in an artistic way and see how the everyday life of an artisan looks like.

You will customize your own piece and learn to mold, paint and work the wheel.

Through art, workshop, creativity and design, we bring people around the world closer together.

This was an intimate look at how ceramics are crafted for sale in markets, some markets as far away as Barbados. The atalier is located about 25 minutes into the campo, and you get a feel for life outside Havana. We were picked up in a gorgeous classic car, and our guide for the experience, Cha Cha, was convivial, knowledgeable and lots of fun. We learned about the sourcing of clay, how to use a wheel, and the painting of the final, fired products. In the midst of it all we were treated to a lovely snack of fresh fruit, hand-made plantain & potato chips and juice, with lots of personal chat and and insight into Cuban history thrown in.

This was the highlight of my trip to Cuba. I was met by Eduardo and Chacha with warmth and enthusiasm. We drove 30 min outside Havana to a family's studio to see how they make figures/souvenirs out of clay. I got to see everything from start to finish and met some amazing people every step of the way. Everyone was warm and welcoming. My favorite part of the experience was when I met Ramon, who is around 87 years old and taught me how to use the clay and make figures. It was a once in a lifetime privilege to be taught by him; he is a master of his craft and has been doing it since he was 12 years old. After creating with clay, you get to paint your own figure which was soooo much fun! I got to keep what I painted and every time I look at it, it reminds me of this magical day. I bought some souvenirs to take back home at better prices than Havana stores. Thank you Eduardo and Chacha for our wonderful conversations and making this such a memorable experience. I highly recommend this to anyone.

I truly recommend visitors to Havana and Cuba participate in this experience. Here you get to see how a lot of the souvenirs and crafts sold in many shops and stalls (at inflated prices) are made. You witness how locals in a seemingly isolated and nontouristic town work to provide for their family and contribute to Cuba's tourism behind the scenes. Being able to directly support locals who are separated from the tourism industry (one of the more profitable industries in Cuba), is a worthwhile and great experience. I hope they become more able to sell and explore their creative and artistic talents rather than do commercial piece work. The snack provided was also yummy and fresh. Also, Eduardo is fluent in English. I enjoyed asking him numerous questions. He is very chill and easy to talk to, and provided a great perspective on Cuban life and culture. I really enjoyed his company.

This experience was absolutely amazing! Eduardo and Carlos are you go-to guys! They were great conversationalists and easily made you feel welcome. We got to meet some family friends and we shared food together as well as many stories. The turning wheel was a lot of fun as well as the painting. Would definitely recommend this experience if you are looking for a unique experience and to meet Cuban people and see their story first hand.

If you are a resort type vacation person this is not the experience for you...however if you are into living life on life terms, getting to know the culture and how the people live then THIS IS THE EXPERIENCE for you! Right outside of Habana in a more rural setting you visit a master potter who guides you through throwing some clay on the wheel (he has a wicked sense of humor!) you visit a home where the clay is made, then a family who is warm and hospitable who feed you wonderful fresh snacks and show you how their day to day life is, producing products for retail. Its hands on, so you get the experience of what it takes. Eduardo is fluent in english and will give you an insight into Cuba's economics and how families finance their lives. He also has a wicked sense of humor and is refreshingly frank and insightful. I would highly recommend this experience. We had a great time and didn't do too badly on the wheel!
