What you'll do
Guests will meet at the Boathouse, dubbed the "EYC" before departure. We will go over general safety and rules on the boat, then depart for our cruise. We will depart through the canals of Jefferson Chalmers, then head south into the Detroit River.
On the River, we will slowly cruise toward downtown, passing by Belle Isle, the Detroit Yacht Club, the Detroit Boat Club, Chene Park, and more. I will identify any landmarks the passengers are interested in, and provide some history as well.
Our general course will take us from Windmill Pointe to the Ambassador Bridge and back. If the passengers would like to swim and weather permits, we can anchor by Belle Isle Beach.
This cruise is BYOB, but we will have basic soda and mixers on board. There is an ice maker as well as a cooler and small refrigerator for your use.
Other things to note
Please dress for a boat ride! Boat shoes or non marking sandals, swim suit, beach towel are all recommended. Boat has an Ice Maker and small refrigerator for drinks, as well as a cooler on board.

Hello, and welcome aboard! I'm Captain Dan, and I will be taking you on a rare and special trip to explore the Detroit River on a classic Lyman Boat. I am a licensed USCG Master Captain who has been operating vessels in this area since I was old enough to see over the wheel.
My boat, the E-GO has been in my family for generations. It is a 1967 Lyman cabin cruiser that has lived in the same boathouse since it was built. My family has lived in this canal neighborhood since my great-grandparents came over from Sicily. I will take my guests on a tour of the canals then on a riverfront cruise.

Where you'll be
This location is part of the historic Jefferson Chalmers neighborhood, recently designated a National Treasure. This charming house is on the only residential canal system in the city of Detroit, often dubbed "Detroit's Venice". We will use the house to meet and prepare any food or drink you'd like to bring, as well as a place to change or store belongings.

Captain Dan was the BEST! I sent him a message prior to our cruise telling him that I would be proposing, and we worked out a great idea! He took photos of the whole thing! I will definitely take this boat ride again and bring friends along next time. He helped to create a memory that we will have forever. Thanks, Dan!

Just sit right back and you’ll hear a tale, a tale of our Ego trip... need an adventure recommendation? Here it is. If you’re looking to glimpse the Detroit & Canada skyline from a different perspective, we highly recommend this experience. Board the amazing 1967 vintage (Ego) vessel and let Captain Dan regale you with tales of the city. The Ego was accommodating in every perspective snacks, ice cold beverages (adult beverages included) and all safety gear intact ready to cruise the waters. The genuinely personable Captain Dan will provide historic information about the sites you’ll see along the way; some may even bring back some childhood memories if you lucky enough to be a Detroit native! Captain Dan will anchor at the “Jewel of Detroit” Belle Isle and into the water ya go; this was a plus on our trip with the temps hitting the high 90’s, so don’t forget to bring swim gear! There are numerous cruises one can choose from to see the sites on the Detroit river but if you’re looking for something extra special, look no further. Aside from the beautiful vessel, the awesome tour, and accommodations, what put this cruise over the top was Captain Dan, to be direct and to the point, just a helluva guy! We will certainly recommend this experience to all our friends and family, thanks again Captain Dan for a wonderful adventure. By the way, how do you become members of the EYC?
