What you'll do

The historical fact that the history of world winemaking has its roots in Georgia has already been confirmed.
Traditional winemaking in Georgia is fundamentally different from all world practices. But from the late 1800s, the European method of wine production began to develop actively in Georgia and it took a separate place in the wine market.
At my tasting class, you and I will:
- try 4 types of wine (White European, Orange, Red Qvevri and Red according to Classic technology) and pair them with cheeses and dried fruits
- learn how to make food pairing and main rules for this
- we will discuss the particular qualities of wine and you will get the basic skills for wine tasting that will help you correctly describe your wishes through wine in a restaurant or winery
- I will talk about the regions of winemaking and the differences between different methods of wine production in Georgia
Our tasting will take place in the new, modern DecanTer winery

Today I can’t imagine my life without Georgian wine and would be happy to share my experience and knowledge.

I highly recommend wine tasting. The main person which was talking about wine was speaking Russian, but we get our own translator so everyone and everything was clear. After tasting we were sitting there for next few hours just chatting, cause atmosphere was brilliant and noone wants to leave this place!

My wine class was taught by Ksenia, who can only speak Russian, but I still came away learning SO much from her about tasting wine, thanks to translation provided by Anju. Ksenia is amazing, passionate about Georgian wine. What was supposed to be a 1 hour tasting became 3 hours, and I ended up leaving with purchasing 3 bottles of Qvevri wine for myself. The Amber wine is a MUST buy! And so are the Qvevri wines, I definitely enjoy them better than classical wines. Learning the history of Georgian wine dating back 8,000 years and what it has gone through ever since through Soviet times and post-USSR, is amazing and rich history to learn about. I've been to many wine regions in the world, and Georgia is definitely at the top for me. COME TO GEORGIA FOR THE WINE!!

Nice if you speak Russian. Translator was good but felt we missed a lot. Also it was advertised to run for 1 hour but instead went for 2.5 hours. Appropriately priced.
