What you'll do
Students will be introduced to the shop, including the necessary information to forge safely. We will then move into basic forging concepts including hammer control, tapers, drawing out, etc. Students will generally complete one small project such as a bottle opener, leaf keychain, or possibly a fire poker. Projects will then receive a finish and will be ready for use upon your departure!
Light snacks such as fruit, granola bars, etc.
available upon request.
Eye and ear protection will be available. However, students are encouraged to bring their own personal protective equipment.
I’m an artist blacksmith interested in sharing the craft with beginner to intermediate level students. I have completed various training courses including the advanced table making course at the John C. Campbell Folk School, which has a heavy focus on traditional joinery techniques. My personal forging interests range from decorative/functional items to any type of forged tools. No experience necessary for this course!
Where you'll be
Classes will be conducted at my home shop. We will briefly orient to all special tools and equipment prior to beginning the class.
