  • Karin is a very kind and responsive host. We had a wonderful stay at her place. The apartment was sparking clean and ready for us . The transportation was easy and fast to Amsterdam central. It was our pleasure to meet her. Thanks Karin.

  • The place is awesome, minimalist and very quiet. Around them there is a lot of peace, she was very nice considering my check in and check out. And not far as I think from the Amsterdam centre. Completely recommended.

This bedroom is located on the ground floor of our houseboat with fantastic views over the water. We live in the city, but also nationally. Within walking distance from the NDSM WHARF, good restaurants, a supermarket and just 15 minutes to city center by free Ferry.
A place in the city and still enjoy the outdoors, this is what we offer. Our houseboat lies in upcoming / hot Amsterdam North close to the NDSM shipyard. The room is located on the quiet water side with stunning views over the water. The best way to wake up! In summer you can enjoy the sun in our garden or terrace on the water and even swim. But in the other seasons it is also relaxing and wonderful.
This district is popular by the many cultural activities on the old NDSM site (walking distance). The dynamic center of Amsterdam is only 15 minutes, take the bike and free ferry and you're there. You can also 8 minutes walk from the ferry or bus (10 minutes). If you want to cycle, take a ride through the beautiful city and / or go to the countryside can too. There are possibly bikes. It only takes 5 minutes and you're in the country. You can even visit Volendam, Edam and Durgerdam. You can park for free. There is always enough parking space. Amsterdam Center has many restaurants, bars and clubs. To see beautiful film about Amsterdam (website hidden) But also in North Amsterdam are within walking distance many good restaurants. We all know them, so feel free to ask for information. DEAR VISITOR OF AMSTERDAM A hearty welcome to Amsterdam, our capital and largest city and the financial and cultural centre of The Netherlands. Amsterdam has almost two million visitors a year and with reason! Amsterdam has so much to offer. There are the canals, full of character in every kind of weather. You can take a canal cruise boat and view the seventeenth century houses from the water, or just take a walk. Then there are the museums. Amsterdam is the place to be for Rembrandts, Van Goghs and modern art. The theatres present shows mainly in Dutch off course, but opera and ballet are universal languages. The Spiegel- kwartier and P.C. Hooftstraat are rich shopping grounds for fashion, jewellery and antiques. When it comes to food and drink, Amsterdam offers the wide range you would expect of a big city: from little fast food stalls to Michelin-star gourmet restaurants and bars and nightclubs in all sorts and sizes. Whatever your liking, Amsterdam is an exciting city for everyone. We give you some handy facts, figures and customs to make you enjoy your stay even more.
  • I had a great time staying here, a perfect little room with a beautiful view , wonderful experience and Joke and Gerrard made it all the better with their great hospitality

    Sammi2016-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • Joke and Gerard are gracious and welcoming hosts. The room is well appointed and quiet, and it has a fantastic view of the water. Amsterdam's canals and harbor are beautiful, and I enjoyed taking the short (and free) ferry ride each morning to the central city. I highly recommend this location and would stay with Joke and Gerard again!

    Barbara2015-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • Joke and Gerard are exceptional hosts! They are kind and thoughtful! The house boat was such a cool experience. If/when I come back I will be booking here again!

    Julianne2017-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • This place is just incredible, really clean with a view on the canal to die for. Joke and Gerard are really two great people. I had such a great time enjoying the conversation, the outdoor chimney... Gerard and Joke gave me plenty of advice which were really useful. know where to go back next time Im in Amsterdam. The area is also quite cool to visit with lots of street art around.

    Mick2017-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • Joke always has good tips about Amsterdam around! Gerard always feed you up with good food and wine! The house is very beautiful, clean and comfortable. I enjoyed every morning, just opened my eyes could see the lovely birds on the water. I even could pictured with the swans! The neighbourhood is lovely too. Very lucky I could try the dutch "cha siu" from their very friendly neighbour! In short, staying here like at home all the times. A real airbnb recommended. Definitely will bring my hubby next time!

    Raphael2015-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • We felt right at home with joke and Gerard. The house is nestled in a beautiful area along the Amstel river and is within a reasonable walking distance from the ferry that takes you the central station.

    Nico2018-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • Joke and Gerard are some of the most generous and warm people I've met on my travels. I was provided with detailed and an extremely accurate way to get to the houseboat but since my flight was delayed a fair bit, Gerard came to pick me up from the ferry which was very nice, and since it was quite late in the night, they even heated up some dinner for me once I got to the house. The room and the houseboat are exactly how the pictures show it, and had warm touches all over, from the oversized shower, the paintings on the walls, and their beautiful kitchen. The view however, from the room and house, is quite spectacular and the most positive experience of staying here. If you want a different yet authentic experience of Amsterdam then this is where you want to stay, it's an extremely easy commute to and from the central station, and Joke and Gerard went out of their way to suggest places of interest, and things to do in Amsterdam. We even went for an amazing boat ride on the smaller boat, a huge bonus because the best way to see Amsterdam is by water. I'd recommend Joke and Gerard's houseboat as a place to stay to everyone, and would definitely stay here again when I return to Amsterdam. I can't thank them enough for their hospitality.

    Mitali2016-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • Joke and Gerald are magnificent host and simply fantastic people! They welcomed me into their home and they treated me as if we were old friends. Over my week stay we had multiple meals together, along quite a few beers. They were incredibly helpful and eager to answer any questions that came to mind. Could not ask for a better first experience in Amsterdam! The houseboat was a great experience in and of itself. The room was incredibly clean and quaint with a picturesque view of the canal. On those scorching summer days there is nothing like a quick swim to cool down! Can't wait to make another visit in the future.

Discover what it feels like to live like a Dutch person on a houseboat! There is a comfortable double king size bed in your room. Next to your room is a modern shared bathroom. You can enjoy your breakfast in the special breakfast nook and watch the many varieties of water birds swim past or on the private veranda directly on the water. Situated on the IJ river close to the cultural hub NDSM and only a fifteen minute busdrive to the central station. You can park your car for free.

  • Rieneke was a lovely host and we felt very much at home during our short stay in Amsterdam! Her place is lovely, it was very special for us to stay on a houseboat and we really enjoyed it. The place is lovely and spacious, we got a lovely breakfast and it's great that there's a free ferry going there from central station. The NDSM area close by is vibrant and there are some nice restaurants around we really enjoyed. We would definitely stay again with Rieneke and highly recommend to visit her place!

    Valentina2017-11-20T00:00:00Z
  • Rieneke was a lovely host and very solicitous of our needs. Our only complaint is the difficulty in describing the location because there is NO address to put in a GPS.

  • A great way to spend a quiet weekend on the waters of the up and coming - trendy - north of Amsterdam. Great room, awesome bed and a very nice hostess who showed us around the neighborhood and made a great breakfast! Recommended!

  • If you want to have an authentic place in Amsterdam Rieneke's boat house is the perfect place of choice. Location is very good - quiet neighbourhood and only 10 min by free ferry from Central Station. Breakfast is traditional and is enormous, we couldn't try all of it. And she is perfect host, very helpful and kind. Will recommend to all friends

  • What a wonderful place to call home!! If you're looking for a nice and quiet and authentic stay in Amsterdam, not to far from the central station ( 10min with a FREE ferry), this is definitely the place for you. Rieneke was so friendly and helpful. The room was big, clean and tidy. The dubble bed got me sleeping within seconds, wich I usually struggle with. And the bathroom next door was great. She even made us a tasty breakfast every morning!! Nothing better than starting your day with a cup of coffee staring out on the water through the kitchen window or out on the porch. I could't recommend this place more. Thanks again for a wonderful time in Amsterdam!

  • It was wonderful and relaxing experience to stay in Renieke's houseboat. It has its unique charm with beautiful decorations, painting and sculptures around the home - thoroughly enjoyed the weekend in an artist's home. The location is quite convenient from Amsterdam central. Breakfast was nice and we enjoyed the old world charm.

  • I stayed with Joke En Gerards property with my partner and two teenage children on our first visit to Amsterdam. The communication before the stay was fantastic and really friendly. When we arrived in Amsterdam, Gerard provided instructions on how to find the property, even giving us live notifications on the times of the next ferry! The location was excellent as, although we did want to stay in Amsterdam, we wanted to relax in the quieter north area that provided some relief from the busy city area. The journey into the city was quick and good fun via the free ferry. Gerard was a Brilliant host, providing a fantastic welcome for me and my family when we arrived. He gave us so many tips and suggestions that I ended up recording all the information on my phone. He answered emails/text promptly throughout our stay, providing information on our return journey when we realised that due to our early flight time, we couldn't use the ferry. The accommodation was clean, comfortable and warm with plenty of towels and spacious enough for the 4 of us. We had a brilliant stay in Amsterdam made even more memorable by staying with truly lovely people!

  • Joke and Gerard our outstanding hosts, very helpful with any information you may nee. Directions, transport , what to see etc. The inside space is comfortable for 2-3 . There are all facilitys to cook, if you purchase groceries. WIth a fridge , hotplate, microwave, kettle, toaster. There is a lovely outdoor area with a fire, which was great as it was a little cold while we were there. Indoors there is central heating. Gerard took us on an outstanding boat tour of Amsterdam, which was amazing. There are bikes available to hire too. Easy transport from Central Amsterdam with the free ferrie and a 10 min walk to the appartment. Lovely swans come up to the deck of the house boat too. Loved our stay and loved Amsterdam.

  • Joke En Gerard were amazing. Me and three of my friends were visiting Amsterdam for the very first time and we booked their loft. The place is at a very convenient location and very easily reachable from the Amsterdam central railway station. Its just a 15 min ferrey ride from the station. If you want to take a bus the bus station is also very close. The area near their home is quite and very beautiful. There is a lake behind the loft . Joke and Gerard were very welcoming and also offered to show us arround when we reached. We were four people and Joke and Gerard offered to put an extra matress for us. Although we were there for 2 nights we made some awesome memories thanks to Joke and Gerard!!

  • Lovely place to stay in Amsterdam! It's easy to take the ferry it takes only around 15 min. to go to Amsterdam Central. The room was clean and we had enough space. Good to know: there is no door between the toilett and the room! And the accommodation isnt really on the Houseboat, it's in the garden right in Front of the Boat. Thanks again, Joke and Gerard!

  • Joke and Gerard are both very welcoming and friendly, I would 100% recommend this fine place to anyone especially couples! It only took 20 minutes to commute into the city centre and it was free! Transport to the airport is also great and cheap Location is really up and coming, super clean and everything you needed at the boat house. Would definitely return

This is a private and comfortable studio on a houseboat which is very nicely decorated. Through the big sliding window door you can enter your own private deck which will give you a nice view over the water. You are welcomed with a complementary breakfast package to begin the day with, during your stay in Amsterdam.
You have a private lounge with a kitchenette and a comfortable sofa. The lounge is connected with a sliding door/window to a small and sunny terrace where you can drink your coffee and enjoy the water view. By climbing a small stair you will get to your bedroom with a twin bed and a window.
The studio is located in the hippest area of Amsterdam North close to the NDSM and a few minutes away from the ferry that will take you within 15 minutes to Amsterdam Central station/inner city. It feels more like a mini cruise than public transport! The area is booming with lots of bars and restaurants and occasionally a festival. You are also close to Eye Amsterdam, Amsterdam Tower and the waterfront. In what seems like direct contrast to the cutting-edge vibe, this area also has loads of lovely little villages that are ideal for exploring on foot, by bicycle or by water. Historic villages such as Nieuwendam, Ransdorp and Zunderdorp have authentic stolpboerderijen (traditional Dutch farmhouses with roofs built in the shape of a cheese-cover), wooden houses, canal locks and impressive polder views.
  • Michell and I had wonderful time at Karen’s place. With the nearby free ferry ride it was easy to reach the city center. Karen was friendly and very helpful in explaining the local intricacies. Would strongly recommend Karen’s place as a suitable base for exploring the beautiful city of Amsterdam.

    Florian2019-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • The studio is in an on-water house, located in a 15 minutes free ferry ride from city center. It's small but cozy, with a wide bed upstairs. Karen has a good eye for detail and there is a lot of tourist information at the place.

  • We loved our stay at this house it was perfect setting for our first ever trip to Amsterdam. The city can be quite over whelming if you haven’t been before and that small space at house boat 94 gave my evenings the zen and relaxation i needed to start my day all over again. The area is nice and feels very safe, we used the free ferry in to the night and felt safe enough to walk the 10 minuets between the ferry port and the house at all hours of the day. Excellent accommodation for the price.

  • My friend and I stayed here for four days and we loved it. It’s quick and easy to get to and from the centre of Amsterdam and the place is stunning. Such a cute and cozy place to be! Karen made us feel right at home, we were treated with such kindness. There are nearby supermarkets and there are plenty of lovely tips and day plans in the guest book. Absolutely would love to stay here on my next trip to Amsterdam.

    Julia2018-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Located in a lovely area out the way of central but only a 10minute free ferry away! Karen (& Charlie) were very friendly when we met them, the place itself is lovely and the hosts were nice enough to stock it with some snacks for us! Definitely recommend!

  • Karen’s houseboat studio is cosy and wonderful! She’s an amazing host and is really quick at replying, the place is quiet and away from the city centre which is relaxing, but at the same time it only takes 20-30 minutes on the free ferry to get to the centre! If you manage to book her place do it ASAP! As there a very few dates available

  • The appartement was quite nice, in a student district. The building was very safe. But, it is not really for 4 people but for 3 as the second bed was tiny. The expired bread, butter and fruits were not welcoming.... Even though, Alicia has been a good host and was easy to contact ! Nice stay for young adults :)

A lovely bohemian houseboat located in the cultural hotspot area of Amsterdam close to the center. You can use our flowerfull terrace to have drink, relax and enjoy living on water. To explore Amsterdam you can travel by bus (10 min.) by bike or the free ferries to the center (15 min.) A city beach with the best view at the skyline from Amsterdam, great places like the Amsterdam Tower, Eye Film Museum, Noorderlicht, De Ceuvel, Pllek are just 5 minutes walk away from the boat.
  • I really enjoyed my stay here because I got an authentic experience of Dutch living and it was so easy to get to the city centre from their home. The hosts were all lovely and very welcoming

  • The boat was super cute and cozy. Surprisingly well functioning for a boat; the shower worked well and we had no problems with anything. Wietske and Jetske were extremely helpful and welcoming, really sweet people and easy to communicate with. We spent 3 nights on the boat and the experience was awesome.

    Leena-Maija2017-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • Cosy space in an easy to reach location. Bare in mind that it is a small house boat when booking so no drinking water and can be a bit chilly. The hosts did provide some beer and drinking water though which was a nice touch and there was hot water for a shower.

    Ellie2018-04-30T00:00:00Z
  • Wietske and Jetske are some of the nicest hosts you can imagine. Their little boat is located in a "little village" of other house boats close to the NDSM, a big cultural center in a defunct shipbuilding yard. The place is quiet and calm, which gives a relief of the mass of tourists, which are in Amsterdam's centre. I am looking forward to come back!

    Kay2017-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • Charming boat! Very clean. There's a bus out front or a 20 min walk to the ferry to get to the city. Wow! These hosts are great! They genuinely enjoy hospitality and make their home yours. Super easy to talk to (English or Dutch!) & a great source of knowledge for what to do and how to get there

    Rebekah2017-04-06T00:00:00Z

  • I and my doughter (17) stayed with Wietske and Jetske for two nights on our interrail. The boat we rented and the place itself are very charming. We only met Jetske during our stay. She was very helpful and service-minded. She picked us up by car when we arrived, and drove us back again when it was time for us to leave. While we visited, we got to borrow their bikes as much as we wanted. The boat is quite ok. We haven't lived on a houseboat before, but I assume that this is what to expect from a "bohemian houseboat". Very charming, and a crab came to visit! Jetske says that they have never seen a crab on the boat before, and I believe her. This summer the boat is going on land for some maintenance and an upgrade. Housekeeping was good, silverware and glasses could have been cleaner, but I would say that we are quite demanding in that category. In total, I reccomend a stay here. We felt very welcome, safe and well looked after.

FREE FERRY, FREE PARKING This tiny wooden place is situated in one of the most upcoming areas of Amsterdam: the North side.
Within 10 minutes on one of the ferries (900 meters from the house) you are at the Central Station of Amsterdam. There is a supermarket nearby and a lot of very nice places to eat/drink on a walking distance from the house.
Walking out of the garden, you go to the right and have a walk along the water, cross the bridge and enjoy the characteristic rural houses on the Buiksloterdijk or Kadoelenweg. Hire a bike and cycle to amazing beautiful small villages such as Durgerdam, Ilpendam of Broek in Waterland. In a 10 minutes walk you reach the place where it all happens: NDSM-werf. Festivals, art, terrific food, furniture, theatre, anything what makes your heart beat, you will find it there. And of course the ferry. It takes you to the heart of the city. Enjoy the free 13 minutes tour across het IJ to the Center side of the city. The trip itself is an every day joy! You will find a list of nice things to visit / restaurants you shouldn't miss.
  • It was a very fine cabin near the city. Miranda and Nico are very generosity and hospitality. We recommend this cute cabin :)! Everytime again!

  • A percfect gateway to the city. In just a few minutes walk you'll reach the really hip NDSM wharf with its restaurants, arts and many places to discover. Then the free ferry is just an other step away. The cabin is so cozy!! You will feel at home the second you walk in. Everything important is there as well as a welcome snack of your host. Whenever we'll be back to Amsterdam, we would certainly consider this accomodation again.

  • Great place to stay. Check in is easy and no issues. Very easy to get to downtown amsterdam. Just a short walk and a ferry ride. Also one of the better parts, leaving amsterdam and going to a nice quiet area to relax and enjoy.

  • Do not hesitate in booking this amazing cabin!! My husband and I have just returned from a 3 night stay and had the greatest time. Miranda and Nico made us feel very welcome but also gave us our own space. The cabin was perfect , clean and comfortable with lovely welcoming touch’s from the hosts to make you feel at home . The location was superb. It was very peaceful and quiet but you are not isolated as there were cafes and activity close by . It was very easy to get to the centre of Amsterdam . A short walk to the FREE ferry which dropped us off right in front of Amsterdam central station. We hope to come back soon

  • Excellent accommodations and thoughtful hosts. Felix and Caro are very friendly and can provide you with suggestions and help or give you all the privacy you want. These two made us feel like royalty! Their house is a very short walk from a free ferry to central Amsterdam and we loved the location. 5 stars all around.

  • All good, but it is not a boat house as you would be expecting from Amsterdam, As you are behind the owners boat house in a sort of floating container. The flat is nicely decorated and we were provided with very nice breakfast in the morning! The location is is within walking distance from the ferry that will take you free of charge to the city center.

    Diego2018-04-09T00:00:00Z
  • Felix and Caro have a gorgeous home to the north of Amsterdam main city. It was clean and private, and a unique experience if you’ve never been in a house boat before. Only a quick free ferry ride from the city it is a really great option if you’d like to experience more than just your typical areas of Amsterdam. Felix and Caro were perfect hosts, they were friendly, extremely helpful and accommodating. We had a wonderful time!

  • Meiya’s studio was perfect for our weekend away. It had everything we needed in a location only 15 min walk from the ferry, which takes you right into central. Would definitely recommend a stay here!

    Gemma2019-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • This studio is a spectacular example of Amsterdam Noord’s art and design scene. It is a huge open space, artfully decorated and full of character. It has everything you need for a short stay - towels, soap, coffee, etc. Meiya is a really responsive host and was available via messages before and during the stay, and during check-out. She also allowed us to check in early and check out late which made our trip run smoothly. If we come back to Amsterdam, we will be looking to stay here again!

    Georgina2019-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you Meiya for everything!

    Cenk2018-12-16T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place and it has everything you will need. However, the location is a bit far away from Central Amsterdam as you have to take a ferry and then the train (although its easy to navigate). Additionally, the gate to the complex was closed and we were not able to open it late at night or early in the morning which was stressful and we did not know that we wouldn't be able to open it. I thought that check-in was a bit strange as we could not use the space until late in the day. We had to drop our bags off and then wait in a cafe for 2 hours until Meiya was done working in the space. Not exactly the experience I was expecting but beautiful place nonetheless.

    Grace2019-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • very nice apartment in a quiet location 15 min walk from the ferry for a one-minute crossing to be directly in the center

    Clément2018-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Meiya's artist studio is a wonderful place and she is a wonderful host. The place is nice and tidy, very comfortable and conveniently located about 15 minutes walk from the 24/7 running ferry (literally every 3 minutes) from the central station. Meya went the extra mile to make us feel welcome and she has been extremely kind in letting us check-out late (our flight was in the evening) and even dropped us off to the ferry with her car. We had a great time and definitely recommend staying at Meiya if you visit Amsterdam!

Crossing over the IJ from Central Station to NDSM with the free ferry, gives you a beautiful view over Amsterdam.
  • Great experience! Markus was really nice! A new way to stay in amsterdam.

    Camille2018-04-19T00:00:00Z
  • This place is amazing. The short distance to the ferry, music during the evening from the festival, the amazing hospitality and the city itself. There is no way you can't like this place. We will definitely recommend this to friends if they decide to visit amsterdam.

  • Henri's cabin is pretty much how he describes it. Henri and his mate Markus were very welcoming and I felt very at home on their ship. The sleeping quarters are a bit cramped but it is a functioning sailing ship this is to be expected.

  • We were a group of ten people and it was great to stay at the boat and a really unique and special accomodation. The location was great. Just 15 Minutes by a public boat for free and you are in the middle of the city. The warm welcome ad accessibility of the hosts make the stay unforgetable. We had a really good time and a very good view over the city, to celebrate new years eve. I would ever recommend for people, who are searching for a little adventure :-)

  • That was a fantastic pleasure to live on old clipper for two days.

    Maksim2018-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • Very unique airbnb and awesome way to meet way to meet people. I think there is only one thing to not and it's not even necessary bad thing and that is the location. If you want to be in the center near Amsterdam square then this boat probably isnt it. But if you don't mind the ferry and the North side of Amsterdam then theres no problem. There are many places within walking distance for drinks and food. When you wait on the ferry there is a cool place to get coffee and snacks if you like. But the experience for me was great and everyone on the boat was so nice.

My lovely two pax apartment is located in the northern part of Amsterdam. The apartment offers a light and cosy livingroom, separate modern kitchen, comfortable bedroom at calm backside of the house and modern bathroom. You enjoy sun whole day at one of the two balconies. If you're looking for a quiet and luxurious place this is the perfect place. Also close to the action at famous NDSM area and only 20 minutes (by foot 10 minutes + ferry fare 10 minutes) away from the city centre of Amsterdam.
It is a nice and comfortable, spacious apartment in a nice and quite neighbourhood. You have access to the livingroom, dining area, kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and ofcourse the two balconies.
Directly across the water (known as ‘the IJ’) behind Central Station, Amsterdam Noord boasts the best of contrasting worlds: vast green expanses and charming little villages plus some of the city's most cutting-edge architecture, exciting festivals, artist studios and stylish waterside hangouts with beautiful terraces. A free ferry from behind Central Station will take you there in minutes; so don’t miss the chance to explore this unique area of Amsterdam.

  • nice houses to stay a good location, accessible everywhere with public transport

  • The place is not in the central Amsterdam area, it is in the north on the other bank of the Ij river. It is ten minutes walking from the ferry that goes to the central station. The neighbourghood is nice, really quite, which is good because Amsterdam (the central area) is so crowdy that it could be overwhelming, and going back to a quite place to have dinner and sleep was very pleasant. There is a market near the place and this fact along with the really good kitchen it has, is a perfect combination.

    Lucas2018-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • Wow, what an amazing apartment Inge has to offer. It's located in the north side of Amsterdam which has a bit of a reputation for being hard to reach at times, but don't let that fool you - you can catch a bus that takes you to Centraal in 20 minutes, but why would you do that when you can walk to NDSM-werf and take the free ferry across the IJ straight into the center of the city? The apartment is located in a lovely quiet street, surrounded by friendly locals. There's plenty to see and eat down at the aforementioned NDSM-werf if you want something a bit more active. The apartment itself is beautiful! There's loads of lovely art on the walls, and as it's primarily Inge's home it feels a lot more like a home than a holiday house. The bed is super comfy, the amenities provided are plentiful (tea, coffee, sugar, shampoo, soaps, etc), and the two balconies were appreciated in the unexpectedly warm late September weather I was lucky enough to experience! I'd recommend this apartment to anyone who wants to get away from the ridiculously busy centre but still be close enough to head there whenever you desire. Inge is a wonderfully attentive host especially considering my last minute booking, and I hope to stay again one day. Thank you Inge!

    Steven2018-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time staying at Inge’s place in Amsterdam. The apartment is in a quiet and peaceful area, very close to the free ferry connecting you to the city centre. The apartment is beautiful, sparkling clean and relaxing. If you like cooking the stove is great! The mattress is very comfortable. We forgot something in the apartment and Inge was so kind as to send it to us per post. I would highly recommend Inge’s place. Thanks for the relaxing stay!

Newly build super comfy family house (145 m2) along the waterside in trendy Amsterdam Noord near NDSM Wharf. The garden is facing southwest, so you can enjoy and relax until the sun goes down. Please note as we have no fence between our garden and the water it is not very suitable for small children. In the summer you can swim in the open water and take a dive straight from the quay :-)
Amsterdam North has an industrial atmosphere and became one of the coolest neighborhoods over the last years. More and more hotspots are popping up and locals love to go there for the food. Visit urban beaches such as 'Pllek' or the old boat dock 'the Ceuvel' that has been transformed into a creative place that offers art, music, swimming and food. Both perfect spots to relax and enjoy the warm weather on the waterfront. Other nice places overlooking the IJ-lake are film museum EYE (enjoy the sunset on their beautiful terrace!), seafood restaurant Stork and THT restaurant. One of our favorite areas in Amsterdam North is the NDSM Wharf. North is also the place to be for vintage and thrift shopping. You can’t miss the monthly flea market in the IJ-hallen, a true second hand heaven. You can take one of our bikes and discover the picturesque villages of Nieuwendam, Schelllingwoude and Durgerdam (an authentic village with wooden fisherman cottages), Ransdorp and Zunderdorp or rural Amsterdam with lots of green meadows with cows and sheeps; it's all just around the corner of our house. Noord is not only spacious and green, but also inspiring and vibrant. Here you will find an exciting mix of experimental festivals, picturesque country villages and stylish restaurants on the water. When in the city center you can easily discover the beautiful Jordaan (with Anne Frank Museum and the cozy "9 Streets", famous for the their boutique shops and small restaurants) or the city centre and museum square (Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum and Stedelijk Museum). Also the famous Dutch villages Marken and Volendam, the open air museum “Zaanse Schans” and the cheese markets in Alkmaar and Edam are within reach. The beach is only 30 min away.

The Houseboat village gives you a unique holiday feeling with the pier and by neighbors self made garden etc. Just a small distance away from the beautiful but o so busy city center. Overlooking the amazing NDSM-area with super cool bars and events. This area used to be a huge Shipyard and now it’s one of the cultural/ trendy playgrounds from the city! Visit Cafe De Ceuvel, completely made from recycled materials. Furniture made from half boats. Lots of old houseboats that they put on the land where al funky businesses are and often workshops. Check it out, you won’t be disappointed for sure!
  • Marc’s house boat Studio was fantastic to stay on! Nice quiet house boat village just next to the exciting NDSM area. The houseboat is a perfect place to end & start your day! With the right ferry connection we where at central station in 15 minutes. The Studio was very nice and just renovated it had a private entrance and a brand new bathroom. When we arrived Marc welcomed us and that day we did a awesome boat tour with his luxurious ship around the canals! Parking the car for free next to the house boat village was very convenient! We can definitely recommend this place!

This authentic ship is in the middle of the NDSM wharf which is the most upcoming and cultural hotspot in Amsterdam. Zout is just 5 minutes walking from the free ferry which brings you to the centre of Amsterdam. The ship is very cosy and comfortable. It's the best way to experience living on a ship! On the same wharf you will find bars, a bakery and restaurants with nice terraces over the IJ canal viewing the historical city.
There are 4 cabins in the ship with one shower and toilet. In the dayroom there is a heater. Here you can make breakfast. You can't cook on the ship apart from baking and cooking eggs, warming up soup, make coffee and tea. On the first morning you will have breakfast in your fridge; coffee, tea, bread, cheese, jam and meats.
  • Thoroughly enjoyed our stay on Jan's boat. Interior very homely with wood burner in main lounge area keeping it nice and warm. Comfortable beds and good shower. However, disappointed to learn that we couldn't cook our own food on the boat (microwave unplugged, texted Jan about how we could turn this on, to which he replied that we weren't allowed to cook on his boat). This would not have been a problem, except we were led to believe we would be able to use kitchen facilities to cook, as 'kitchen' was stated in list of amenities. Must also add that walk to the ferry is closer to 10 minutes than 2.

  • Jan and Riet's boat is a fantastic place to stay while in Amsterdam! It's fully equipped with everything and extremely functional. Equipped with drinking water, hot shower, really clean beds, it will make your stay super comfortable. Great experience overall!

Looking for a group accommodation in Amsterdam? Nothing is more fun than sleeping on a ship. The Maxima is different than usual, has round shapes, shiny showers, clean lines and coloured doors. The ship is located in the artistic neighbourhood: the NDSM Wharf in the North of Amsterdam.
The Maxima is a traditional sailing ship from 1900, but a little different than other traditional ships in Holland. With a modern interior, round shapes, lots of colours and pleasant atmosphere you feel at home right away. The living space consists of a dayroom and kitchen where you can cook, relax, be together and celebrate your holidays. There are two showers, two toilets and six cabins for two persons, and one cabin for four. There are only single beds. In total, there is space for 18 people, but during the winter months we recommend 14, because of the limited space. In the summer months, the Maxima sails on the Wadden Sea as a charter ship.
The Maxima is located on a jetty on the authentic old shipyard: the NDSM-wharf in Amsterdam North. From the boat it is a 5-minute walk to the (free) ferry, that will take you across the water to the central station in 15 minutes. On the pictures of the Maxima, you still see the old private jetty where the Maxima is anchored. Nowadays we lay right around the corner (still at the same distance from the ferry) on a shared jetty with other boats. Around the corner is the public parking space where you can park your car for €1,30 per hour (max € 7.80 p.day). Besides the famous city center, Amsterdam has a lot more to offer. For example, the NDSM Wharf, where the boat is anchored. This area emerged the last five years as one of the hippest and most creative neighborhoods in Amsterdam. In the summertime there are festivals organized every weekend, and in the winter there are all creative and cultural events in the huge industrial warehouses. At a two-minute walk from the boat, you will find Café Noorderlicht, an organic restaurant that already had sustainability and bio-products before it became a trend. In the evenings they often have live music. Tip: when night falls, go drink a local beer on the Noorderlicht terrace, overlooking the water and the Amsterdam skyline. Slightly further you will find Pllek, a restaurant built from old shipping containers, with great food and good music. And just two minutes further, you will find the ferry that takes you across the water to the centre of Amsterdam. When you choose to book the Maxima, we will send you a detailed map with al the info and walking routes. At the departure site of the ferries, there is a bakery: BBROOD!, where they serve delishious bread. Below are the times of the ferry at the NDSM site. There also exists another ferry at a a 15-minute bicycle ride distance from the Buiksloterweg NDSM ferry to Central Station. This goes every night, all night long, every 12 minutes. You will therefore always get home, no matter what time it is. Besides ferries, there is also a bus from the NDSM Wharf to the Central station and an Uber costs between €11-€16.
  • The boat is in an "alternative-hipster area", what is even cool and you can reach the inner city by a ferrie that's about 5 minutes by foot. The more people you are at the boat the smaller it gets, but it's no problam if you just stay for a few days. All in All we had a great time and a los of fun.

    Christoph2017-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • 12 of us stayed here for 2 days to celebrate my 50th birthday – the location is fantastic (only 20 minutes in total from the boat to Centraal Station) but it’s a completely different vibe – it’s a great place to start and end the day. Although the cabins are small they were perfectly comfortable and the communal space works really well. Communication both before and during couldn’t be faulted. Liv recommended a restaurant (Pllek) for my birthday night and we had a fantastic meal – would definitely pass on her recommendation. All in all it was an awesome experience (even though I can’t remember a lot of it!) Thanks.

    Rich2017-04-02T00:00:00Z
  • the boat is super cosy and clean; one important thing: If you come back from a party early in the morning and there is a second-hand market in the boat area, you can't go to the boat. we had to jump over a hoarding, which was very dangerous.

    Fabian2018-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • Nice place to stay for groups, really clean. Free fairy transfer close to the boat. We will come back :)

    Daniel2016-11-27T00:00:00Z
  • I would recommend this place.

    Sara2018-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • The boat was in great condition, everything works well and it is a cozy, warm and fun space to stay in. All communication was smooth and Liv had excellent tips for what to in Amsterdam. Thoroughly recommend it! We will be back :)

    Curtis2019-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • We booked the boat for 11 people over the weekend and had a nice stay. The cabins are very small but the beds are surprisingly comfortable and the "living room" had enough space for us all. The boat is a little bit of the center but with the ferry which comes every 30 min you can reach Amsterdam Centraal in just 15 min (for free!). Would book again :-)

    Christopher2017-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • It was our first experience in an house boat and it was amazing! The place is far from the city center so it's perfect if you want an independent and quite place to sleep. If the weather is good, I suggest to buy some beers and spend some time on the bow drinking and playing cards before going to sleep! The boat is well connected to public transport, in fact 5 minutes by foot from the boat you can find a free ferry that brings you to Amsterdam Centraal in about 15 mins. The place is cosy and warmed up, even the if cabins are small they are really confortable to sleep! Finally not least, Liv and her boyfriend Tim were so hospitalable and helpful, I definitely suggest this place!

Welcome to 'the Aquarius', our beautiful houseboat in Amsterdam! 'The Aquarius' is a peaceful place to relax on board or in the garden, on our terrace or enjoy a swim in the canal. The boat is located at the NDSM wharf, a hipster hotspot with an industrial feel with lots of activities, start-ups, festivals, hotels, creative companies. ‘The Aquarius’ is also very close to the city centre. Crossing the IJ-river with the (free) ferries is a great experience! Free car parking!
The Aquarius is a houseboat with 4 split-levels. Due to the many windows, the light is amazing. It has two bedrooms with both single beds. In the living room there’s a double bed. We use one room to store all the stuff you don’t need during your stay. The kitchen is complete. There's a lot of space outside to hang around. We have a hammock to chill out all day. We have a canoe that you can use. We have all sizes of life jackets (also baby/ child sizes) that you can use if you want. In the street where we live there's also a playground where you can play football, tabletennis and basketball. Also for smaller children this playground is great! We have an alarm system that we will explain to you on your arrival.
The boat is located at the NDSM wharf. NDSM area is a hipster hotspot with lots of activities, start-ups, festivals, hotels, creative companies and hotspots like Noorderlicht, De Ceuvel and urban beach Pllek. NDSM is part of district North, one of the coolest neighbourhoods of Amsterdam with an industrial feel. With great restaurants like De Goudfazant, Stork, Hangar, Bistro Noord Café Modern and FC Hyena (also filmhouse). Visit the Amsterdam Tower and Eye Film Museum (enjoy the sunset on their beautiful terrace!). North is also the place to be for vintage and thrift shopping. You can’t miss the monthly flea market in the IJ-hallen, a true second hand heaven.
  • Awesome Beautiful place in Amsterdam. Very nice Hosts. Beautiful individual furniture.

  • We were two couples, and tried AriBnb the first time. We have spent our vacation on Nicole's beautiful houseboat in Amsterdam Noord. The houseboat is a very special place and absolutely no comparison to a hotel. Everything has a very exceptional character, sleeping without street noise, the minimum fluctuation of the boat and the connection to the nice garden have beautified our stay. However, the location of the House boat is the best, it is far enough away from the city, but within 10 minutes with the free ferry you can be directly in the Centre of Amsterdam!! We are very thankful that we got the possibility to enjoy our trip to amsterdam in this amazing houseboat and would really like to come back again! :)

  • Really awesome experience! Location is on the other side of the water... But a short ferry crossing of 10 mins and your at central station. Definitely a quirky experience, but with lifts that go to your room, so it works. We travelled on a festival weekend that made things a bit noisy, other than these times, when are you going to get to stay in a crane with a rainfall shower and Sonos...

Extremely comfortable bed; we are now looking to buy a coco-mat :) Hanging out in the hot tub at the top was very cool. A wonderful experience all round! thank you!

Welcome to this sailing ship from 1897 in Amsterdam, and now functioning as a group-accommodation at a spot where it's hip! In the summer months, the boat sails on the Wadden Sea as a charter. With a cosy interior and pleasant atmosphere you feel at home right away. The NDSM area is a new hotspot of Amsterdam, in a view minutes you walk to the free ferry's which will take you to the centre of Amsterdam! Hope to see you aboard!
The boat has a living space where it is very nice to stay. With a group you get immediate atmosphere that will feel at home and together. The boat is also very populair by families with children.
The Boreas is located on a private jetty on the authentic old shipyard the NDSM-wharf in Amsterdam North. You are only 9 minutes away from central Amsterdam by ferry. The NDSM area emerged the last five years as one of the hippest and most creative neighborhoods in Amsterdam. In the summertime there are festivals organised every weekend, and in the winter there are all creative and cultural events in the huge warehouses. The location is awesome - you can take the ferry for free wich leads you directly into the centre. Still there are very cool bars and restaurants right next to the boat.
  • We've just spent 5 days on the Boreas celebrating my 50th birthday and it was perfect in every way! The boat is a lovely old wooden Dutch ship which is full of character - we loved it! The kitchen is well equipped and the living/kitchen space was great for us to all chill out in after pounding the streets of Amsterdam. The owners did not impose on us at all but were there if we needed help with anything. They were particulary helpful as we needed internet whilst away for work purposes and they made sure this worked well so we had no stress there. We had 14 of us on the boat and everyone had a great time and agreed that the boat was a big part of that! We would highly recommend the Boreas for a stay in the beautiful and fun city of Amsterdam - thank you Grietje for making us feel so welcome!

    Tina2015-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • What an experience to stay on a boat! Griertje was very hospitable and welcomed us in well. Everything was as expected and was a great experience!

    Jeremy2017-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Grietje and Hank were very good hosts, clearly explaining all the aspects of staying on their boat. They were very helpful and informative throughout our stay. The boat is very nice and allowed a nice communal area for our group in the living area, which we wouldn't have achieved with a hotel - this made the boat very welcoming and homely. Thank you Grietje and Hank.

    Noyon2016-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This was probably the best way to experience a weekend in Amsterdam! Grietje was quick to respond, very helpful and even offered to drive us to the market for groceries. Plenty of room on the boat, amazing temperature control (was never cold) and comfortable beds. I would definitely recommend!

    Kabir2018-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • Nice boat in a quiet place directly linked to the central railway station by ferry.

    Adrien2017-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time on the boat. Grietje and her partner were fantastic hosts. We were a group of ten brothers and sister with partners and adult children. The boat was a fantastic accommodation for us. The location is great as well. There are some fantastic bars in this area and a fast ferry across to Centraal Station. We would recommend the boat to any group coming to Amsterdam that wants a more interesting experience than a bland hotel.

    John2018-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • The classic ship Boreas is a fantastic and unique place to stay. It is within the NDSM warf area and that it is a really interesting area to stay within. There is plenty close by and it is an easy ferry ride to the central station. Our group enjoyed being away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The facilities are great and the cabins cozy and comfortable. We had a group of 16 and it worked great for us. The boat was spotlessly clean and quite simply a fun experience at a perfect location.

Welcome on board! If you’re looking for a compleet and cosy ship, look no further. This is the place to stay. The “Zuiderzee” was build in 1892. On board you will find an attractive guest room. In the morning I'll serve you a complet breakfast.
The “Zuiderzee” is the eldest barge of the fleet and was launched in 1892. In 1978, the tjalk was rigged again and equipped for cruising. In 2014 again a make-over without the lost of atmosphere. On board you will find an attractive and spacious guest room, which is very cosy because of its remarkable characteristic form. There is a fully-equipped kitchen and a simple bathroom. The ship can accomodate 10 people (sleep). But with 8 to 10 people it's not so crowded.
Ship is situated near the centre of Amsterdam. Shops, restaurants and public transport are just around the corner.
  • Olaf was a great host, very patient even if we made him wait more than an hour because of traffic and still welcomed us with a huge smile :-) The boat was faithful to description, well equipped for 10 people and super original for a weekend between friends. Olaf prepares a generous breakfast in the morning that is a delight around the central table. I would definitely recommand this to anyone looking for a fun location.

    Capucine2016-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very nice stay in Amsterdam and on board of Olaf's boat. Communication to prepare the trip, to get to the boat and during our stay were perfect. The boat was clean and cosy ... and Olaf prepared delicious breakfast to us!

  • To stay on this boat is recommendable for people who like to have an experience of living on a houseboat like this. If you expect a high level of luxury you should choose another location. We got what we have expected and we're not disappointed. Olaf is a very nice person who made every morning a great breakfast for us. We could ask him everything and he was giving us good tips of interesting locations in Amsterdam. Every time time again.

  • What an experience! Olaf is a welcoming and attentive host. The accommodation is very clean, functional and very suitable for groups We were 8 friends on the sailboat and everything went very well. Olaf made us a great breakfast. We were at the Amsterdam Marina so we had access to showers and toilets within 2 minutes of the boat. Thank for all !

The Crane is now one of the most significant developments of its time and has received unprecedented international media coverage to herald its uniqueness. There are many nice and popular restaurants right under the crane. We'll advise and you'll get a list with all the restaurants

  • There is no way that pictures posted here can show you how incredible the place is. Taking a ferry is a must which will add to your experience. Forget about any land transport. The view overlooking the area, channel and harbour is awesome 24 hours a day especially at night during full moon which we fortunatelly experienced. By the time you get to the room having experinced spiral stairs and compact elevators you start feeling like a kid. Experience from taking jacuzzi on the top level drinking cham is just beyond words. Right next to the crane there is famous and unique Broedplaats a place housing all kinds of artists, designers and other creative workers located inside of old & huge facility that used to be NDSM shipyard shop/warehouse. The owner was very welcoming and helpful.

  • The approach of the hotel was stunning! A cool trip with a small ferry, arrival in the Northern part of Amsterdam, passing several nice restaurants.... And there it was: the mother of all cranes, the Faralda. Edwin, the owner/manager made us feel very welcome and poored us a glass of wine. Then we took the small construction-site-elevator to the room. Which is.... Very, very comforting in a burlesque kind of way. You feel like you own your own nightclub for one night. Including the best bed you can imagine, by COCO-MAT. Did I say that the bed was goooood? After a thorough inspection of the room, we decided that we did not want to go out for dinner.

Staying on our sailing ship is a truly unique experience, not only is it comfortable and one of the cheapest and nicest spots to stay with a larger group, it has everything you need while being away from home. It's located in Amsterdams 'up & coming' NDSMdistrict, that's packed with old warehouses, graffiti arts and plenty of cultural cafes and restaurants, within walking distance. The free ferry will get you from the ship to central station and thus downtown within 10 minutes.
Experience the life on the water in the centre of Amsterdam on board of sailing ship the LOTUS (build in 1889) The LOTUS has a large living room with an fully equipped open plan kitchen and a beerdraft. There are 8 cabins all of them which have comfortable made beds, towels and hot & cold running water. Feel free to contact us to discuss all the possibilities to make your visit to Amsterdam as enjoyable and comfortable as possible.
The former NDSM Amsterdam ship wharf is a stunning hangout. Just 10 minutes by free ferry from Amsterdam Central Station. A former shipyard located on the banks of the River IJ in Amsterdam Noord, the NDSM Wharf has blossomed into an enormous cultural hotspot in recent years with a vibrant artist community and an ever-expanding variety of bars and restaurants. With grounds exceeding the size of ten football pitches, the area hosts multi-disciplinary festivals, performances, exhibitions, dance parties and a wide range of other events in unique, post-industrial surroundings.
  • Everything was great. Unfortunately Olaf didn't stay on the boat during our trip to Amsterdam. However Ellen, a friend of Olaf, helped us a lot and stood all the time on the boat so we could ask her all the time everything. The ship was very clean and there is enought space for a group up to 20 people... We would choose this location at any time again

  • The boat, atmosphere and Eric were all great! A relaxed environment with all necessary amenities for a team retreat. Definitely recommend!

  • Amazing experience had by everyone in our group in part thanks to this beautiful sailing boat. Perfect for big groups, easy accessible to they city and Captain Olaf is on hand for advice and information. Will definitely be returning in the future.

  • 13 of us stayed on Olaf's boat for 3 nights for a stag do and our whole group was in agreement that being able to stay all together on the boat was a much better choice than staying in separate rooms/flats in the centre! I was a bit nervous about how we'd all manage, especially with getting on board late at night (you do need someone to be sensible). However everything turned out fine and the boat itself was the perfect place for a group like ours. The basics (beds, showers, kitchen) are all better than you may expect and of course everyone loved the beer tap. Getting around is also easier than I imagined, there's a bus/tram stop very close and you're in the centre in no time. Lastly I should say Olaf did a great job looking after us, keeping the beer topped up and being there to help whenever we needed it, even on the middle of the night!

  • Amazing stay at the Lotus ! We were 15 and we felt really comfortable and at home in the ship ! There was more than enough space for all of us and everything was brand new and clean ! We could spend evenings all together chatting loudly and playing the guitar without bothering anyone ! The neighborhood was lovely and not far from the city center : 10 minutes by bike, 20-25 by walking. To conclude, we would like to say a big THANK YOU to Olaf and Roger for their welcoming and for this perfect weekend !

  • Excellent accommodation. Excellent communication with Olaf, answered any questions quickly before our trip so that we could plan it well. Also gave us helpful hints about Amsterdam. Beer keg is a great touch.
