At the end we will return and invite you to one of the best Ice Cream in the entire 13th commune and I will accompany them again to the point where we started the tour. From there we will go to my mountain home at El Imperio (1h30 min drive). You will enjoy the beautiful landscapes, traditional food, and amazing cultural experience. We’ll ride horseback along the Andes and take in the gorgeous scenery, native forests, and great sight of Lake El Sisga, all of it inside my ranch, which makes it a really safe ride without any vehicle different than my horses. For lunch, we’ll eat authentic dishes cooked in a wood stove, it's beautiful. We will have some colommbian coffee and then play a game of Tejo before we head back to Bogotá. Along the way, you can take it easy and commune with nature as you bond with your Colombian steed. From there we'll drive a few minutes more untill we get to our organic coffee farm, there we'll meet local farmers and with them we have a traditional colombian breackfast, also we'll talk about what it means to be an organic coffee farm and the daily tasks of a farmer. Latter we take our cocos for pick coffee, we get inside the plantation and we learn about the coffee in a organic farm. We'll walk around the farm and take in the more than 8,000 coffee plants, we'll learn how to hand-pick coffee and process it; also depending of the season may we cant collect coffee but we will rousted coffe them in a really native and artisanal way. We go under the local fruits trees, the idea is to feel the coffee culture pretty close and discover the colombian coffee world. We'll process the coffee and end drinking more coffee in a diferent way of preparation, we go to te town just for eat the best traditional lunch and in the way back to the city, making brief stops to take pictures of the Paramos ecosystems and the picturesque Bogotá city skyline. Bogota Bike Tour
Our tour lasts 4 to 5 hours and includes part of the historical center and the Santa Fe, Los Martires and Teusaquillo neighborhoods. During the tour we visit the Parque Nacional, a coffee roaster where we see how Colombian coffee is selected and prepared, we taste fruits in a traditional market, pass by the National Museum and bullfighting plaza, where we often enter, and we play Colombia’s national sport, tejo. The tour covers some 13 kilometers, mostly flat. It’s a relaxed tour, with many stops where we talk about history, culture, politics, urban development and other subjects. All of our guides speak English, and for private tours we have also have French-, German- and Portuguese-speaking guides available. We'll try an expecial and typical mango ice cream with salt and lemon wich one is including in the tour, and inside my Grandmother's home I will explain you everything about the painful past of la Comuna 13, and our personal histories like locals of la Comuna 13 as well. Then we will take the escalators that leads to the top of the mountain, and I will show you an amazing viewpoint to see all Medellin City, (here we will try more local food). Then we'll go to Independencia 2 to see more about the second part of the history, explaining about the biggest urban mass grave in a all the world, Present and Transformation of the Comuna 13 as well. After we will go back to the meeting point to do the end of the tour.
Cable car to El Paraiso, the city slum
If you want to discover the deep reality of the colombian capital you should join me in this experience trying to see and understand the configuration of the colombian society, we will not see colonial architecture, museums or fancy streets, we will go through the south neighborhoods of Bogota by using one of the most innovative transportation system in the world, Tansmilenio and Transmi Cable (Cable car). Bogota has different faces and this a really interesting one you dont want to miss. First of all, we take the Transmilenio (BRT System) direction to Tunal Station and reach the Cable Care used by 700.000 locals everyday as their main transportation system. We will go to the last station Paraiso, and walk around in a deteriorated urban district by the violence and poorness in the past, trying to improve its habitants and surroundings through the education, urban renovation, sports and art equipments. After visiting Paraiso district, seeing and spectacular view of Bogota and having a look to te different Graffiti scene, we will eat delicious traditional local food. By doing this tour, part of the money is to support the graffiti colective in the neighborhood! Other things to note Dont worry about safety, we will not take any risk and you will follow my indications. Visit the largest cow sanctuary in Latin America
Join a memorable visit to Namigni Animal Sanctuary, one of the world's largest cow sanctuaries and the largest farm animal sanctuary in Latin America. Have you ever heard about the best-kept secret of Bogotá "El Dorado". This is the jewel of the crown. Let me introduce you to the biggest Páramo in the world: Sumapaz, the heaven's door. If you wanna knock at its door, we will take you there. This adventure is about the importance of water, wild animals, endemic plants, mountains and about where the oldest guerrilla FARC was born ideologically. We've got all the ingredients in our highlight spot in the city, the only part that is missing is you! By the way, if you want to go on different dates, just let me know by texting me, we can figure it out! im flexible with time. Have in mind is a high mountain, the weather is unpredictable and thats why is so magic. Time is also variable deppending on you hiking skills, normally we come back to the meeting point at 3pm, could be more, could be less. Horseback Riding in Colombia’s Andes
Breathe fresh mountain air and feel the energy of Colombian horses on this one-of-a-kind day. We’ll meet at 8 a.m. in Unicentro mall, located in the north of Bogota. From there we will go to my mountain home at El Imperio (1h30 min drive). You will enjoy the beautiful landscapes, traditional food, and amazing cultural experience. We’ll ride horseback along the Andes and take in the gorgeous scenery, native forests, and great sight of Lake El Sisga, all of it inside my ranch, which makes it a really safe ride without any vehicle different than my horses. For lunch, we’ll eat authentic dishes cooked in a wood stove, it's beautiful. We will have some colommbian coffee and then play a game of Tejo before we head back to Bogotá. Along the way, you can take it easy and commune with nature as you bond with your Colombian steed. Other things to note This activity takes a whole day, and you'll return to Bogotá around 5 - 5:30 pm. It is a must if you really want to experience Colombia's soul. Traffic in Bogota is not always the best, so try to leave with enough time. We have a max waiting time of 20 min.
