The cottages are located on a 5 acre, boulder beach with occasional sandy patches. Ample parking. Located just 2 km from Ski Cape Smokey and 6 km from the National Park and beaches. Great ocean fishing on site.

Welcome to THE HIGHLAND SNUG: Our newly built cozy cottage offers both tranquility in a lovely, quiet location as well as easy & fast accessibility to Cape Breton Highlands National Park. The entrance to the Park is a mere stone's throw away and it only takes 15 minutes by car to the world renowned Skyline Trail. Essential services are nearby. The actual listing address is in the LA PRAIRIE area and not in Grand Etang. This is a glitch on Google Maps that we have no power over to correct.

You'll love this spectacular, 2-cabin cottage overlooking the ocean! High ceilings, white-washed-boards interior, and lots of natural light. If you put your kids to bed early, the separate cabins are a big advantage. Huge bathroom has heated floors and ocean views. Enjoy a huge wrap-around deck. If you can tear yourself away, there are 3 beaches within 5 minutes and world-class golf at nearby Cabot Cliffs. 5 min to Cabot Trail and 30 min. to National Park. Agreement to be signed on booking.

Situated on a hillside overlooking the historic St. Ann’s bay, the Old Trail cabin is conveniently located just 5.5km from the start of the Cabot trail and the Gaelic College. A great spot to start or finish your Cabot Trail adventures! The cabin is designed to feel as open and airy as possible for a small space. The bedroom has a queen bed and the loft has a single bed. Kitchenette has coffee maker, toaster, mini fridge and microwave. All amenities needed are only 15 mins away in Baddeck.

Cabot Trail Wilderness Cabin | The Canopy

The Canopy is the 2nd largest of the 3 wilderness cabins, and closest to the washrooms, nestled among the forest which leads down to the waterfront. All the cabins sleep two people, with a personal fire pit, bbq, kitchenette, drinking water (although no running water), and all the amenities needed to spend a few nights in nature. The shared outdoor bathroom has been hand crafted with lots of natural light, a composting toilet (i.e. non-flushing), hot water shower and two sinks.

Compost toilet and spring mountain fed water is provided for drinking, wash up and rinsing (no running water). Full access to the back lake and trails through our forest. Free access to swim, canoe and/or kayak. We are a 2-10 minute drive to ocean, beaches and trails, shops, cafes, pubs, live music, and The Cape Breton National Park.
